Dx. with pulmonary hypertension...............

Post by Kristy5550 » Sun Mar 06, 2005 5:23 pm

Dr. said it was related to sleep apnea, lupus and asthma.
Anyone else dx. with PH?
I wanted to know what you are doing to cope?
Sweet dreams,
Kris :-)

DX, with pulmonary hypertension

Post by vernao » Mon Mar 07, 2005 1:01 am

I was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension secondary to severe sleep apnea. The sleep apnea caused me to have diastolic dysfunction, which caused the pulmonary hypertension. Treatments have lowered my pressures some, but still there. I had no idea what was wrong, so it was quite a shock to find not one problem but a whole list - all caused by the SA.

GZ,
My main symptom was severe shortness of breath.
Secondly my heartrate would excellerate when I was up moving around.
I have now been on O2 24/7 for over a year.
I had no idea sleep apnea could cause so many other problems.
Sweet dreams,
Kris :-)

Feel Better Soon

Post by gailzee » Mon Mar 07, 2005 6:59 pm

I too, had the SOB, which is what prompted my question. Mine turned out to be a medicine problem, RX'd by one doctor, and because I listened and then complained for mos and mos. it caused me similar problems.

I am not on O2, and the SOB is pretty much gone.
I do hope you feel better soon...........................

Dx. with pulmonary hypertension...............

Post by vernao » Mon Mar 07, 2005 11:14 pm

My primary symptom was exhausted and tired all the time, and then sob with exertion plus feeling dizzy sometimes. Luckily, I have not had to do the oxygen at this point. I have exercised 3-5 days a week for years, so knew it was not my fitness level. It is a real shock to take good care of yourself, and still wind up with this stuff isn't it?

Hope you are feeling better.
