Can't Stop Drooling

Post by grokJim » Wed Feb 07, 2018 1:25 pm

I used a Respironics M Series - R3 for 8 years and never drooled once. Now I have a ResMed AirSense10 Autoset machine and I drool all the time.

Please help!

What changed besides the machine brand? Pressure setting? EPR? Humidifier settings? Mask?

Please fill out your equipment profile - https://www.cpaptalk.com/ucp.php?i=prof ... pment_info

I should add that I use a nasal mask and my mouth is not staying closed even when I use a chin strap. All settings are set to Auto.

To: ChicagoGranny:

The biggest change is that with the old machine the settings were set to fixed values and with the new machine they are set to Auto.

Did it stay closed with the previous machine?

This is a problem that needs to be addressed because an open mouth with a nasal mask can mean so much pressure is lost that your therapy is not effective.

The standard here is to use Sleepyhead software and post some data. This gives us something to work with on advising you. https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead and

FWIW, I use waterproof surgical tape over my mouth. It's hardly an elegant solution, but it works for me wonderfully.

I would not do that until the machine settings and data can be checked with Sleepyhead.

I assume that my mouth stayed closed with the old machine since I didn't drool and didn't have dry mouth. Never had reason to consider a chin strap.

I DLed the Sleepy Head sw but then noticed that it doesn't support my machine:

(I'd like to insert a screenshot here but I can't figure out how to do it. Is there a way?)

Upload the image to imgur.com and then post the link in this thread.

What makes you think that SleepyHead doesn't support that model machine?
SleepyHead most definitely will work with the AirSense 10 AutoSet.

How to insert a screenshot..

That particular page is outdated...he forgot to update it.
Way outdated...SleepyHead now supports the ResMed AirSense/Aircurve machines and all the Respironics DreamStation models EXCEPT for the DreamStation ASV model.

I am using SleepyHead right now and also using an AirSense 10 AutoSet...it will work just fine.

Sometimes I drool when cooking.
A little dribble just leaks out the corner and runs down my chin.
Maybe it's old age.
Or bacon.
