By "here", I meant Nebraska.
The inmates run the asylum, in this state.
Schadenfreude shines in the eyes of our lawmakers.
They voted NO, even after the chamber had been filled with sick children.

I asked my sleep doc about taking CBD oil. Her response was that she hadn't seen any significant studies on it. I am not surprised by her response.

I have been using CBD oil for quite a while now, a couple of years. Initially, I was trying it for pain management. I never did get the right dosage for pain relief, however, I found it very helpful for sleep. I used to take quite a few herbal preparations and medicines in order to get to sleep, pretty much conk myself out. Now, I usually just take CBD oil with the occasional Flexeril. This is huge for me! I have tried several brands. Sisters of the Valley, Lazarus Naturals, Charlottes Web, CBDistillery. CBD oil that is legal in all states (currently) if it has less than .03 of THC. Different brands seem to have different properties and you can have terpenes added to them for various health purposes. There is a good group on Facebook to join if you want information and reputable companies to do business with.

Cannabis plants thrive in Nebraska.
Our first house had 9 foot tall Acapulco Gold plants behind the garage.
Sometimes the whole herb is better and cheaper than processed mystery oil.

It definitely is helping me sleep. I am concerned about the quality but that may have more to do with other issues and not the oil. As soon as I take it, I am out immediately.
How about the sleep quality?

The house had recently been vacated by "frequent flyers",
and the plants were unusual--not your everyday roadside weed,
but likely grown from imported seeds.
Since the tokers had been evicted, we anticipated trouble,
so the crop was chopped before the uniforms could be tipped off.

I looked into CBD and saw little in terms of sure fire success stories. It's THC that you really want and it's difficult to obtain legally. People exude over CBD because of its association with cannabis, but it's just not the right molecule.

I don't think there are many studies because of the legal issues involved. But there are doctors around here who have been prescribing it (marijuana or hemp based) and they report their patients are having success.

My husband got me a small bottle of hemp-based CBD oil to try. It is SO expensive!!! (and apparently, legally obtained medical cannabis based CBD oil is even MORE expensive, and you still have to get a medical card in California).

I can't tell if it really helps or not. It does seem to take the edge off anxiety and help me stay asleep longer, but not consistently. I'm not sure if it's just placebo or not. Husband said he was told that it works best if used consistently, but I cannot justify the expense--about $200 per month at the recommended dosage.

 That's a heck of a lot of money... especially if you are thinking it might be a placebo.

CBD oil has definitely helped my husband who has Parkinson's. People with Parkinson's can have difficult staying in REM sleep and they can be very aggressive in their sleep. He had hit me a few times. His doctor prescribed Clonipen but it made him very groggy in the morning and he still works so it just wasn't feasible.

I found a study done on only 4 people with Parkinson's and it was very promising in the use of CBD. But the dose is 75mg-100mg. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24845114#

Initially I was ordering capsules but the FDA was getting stricter on dosing amounts, eventually he was having to take 6 capsules to achieve the dose and he hated that. I have used only one company's product and I usually speak with the same person when I order. When I told her of the study and why I was using it she suggested I buy in bulk. Now I buy a tub of oil and I purchased empty capsules and I fill it myself. This is far cheaper than what we used to purchase. It lasts a very long time. I have to warm it and it can be messy to draw up in a syringe and put in the capsule. But again very much worth it. The tub costs $300. This is what he is using https://pluscbdoil.com/cbd-product/cbd-oil-capsules
Tub is not reflected on their site.

When I told his movement disorder doctor she didn't know of the study. Once I told her the next time we went for an appointment she had reviewed the study and wrote out his directions and said continue with CBD oil.

In my state (WA) we have special stores now that sell a product that is similar to CBD oil, but less expensive than the CBD oil I've seen in stores that don't check ID. The product comes in various edible or liquid forms, has a very small amount of THC to go with the CBD. My experience has been that they don't help me sleep, but they do help with nausea. It might be, however, that I was taking too low a dose. I'm very sensitive to THC (in a bad way), so I didn't try higher doses. But they didn't make me feel sleepy at all. My research indicated they might help with anxiety, and they might encourage sleep. But I saw one place that said higher amounts of CBD stimulate the system. I can't remember the sources. As mentioned earlier, not a lot of studies, but plenty of opinions, so I thought I'd chime in with my experiences in case it helps.

Any more comments on this? My RLS is driving me crazy, and I am already on the maximum dose of prescription medicine.

You might want to talk to KTeague about interferential therapy (electrical stim) for treating RLS.

For the last three nights I've been trying glycine--an amino acid supplement because I heard it helps with sleep. It's too soon to tell, but last night I had a pretty good night's sleep. I only woke very briefly once and I felt that I slept deeply. I was having dreams and lately I hardly ever dream. I felt rested this morning.

I've been having intermittent sleep issues, so I'm not ready to say it was the glycine, but I've got my fingers crossed. It's inexpensive and benign, side-effect wise.

OTOH, my husband tried the glycine last night (just one capsule) and complained that he woke and couldn't go back to sleep about 4:30 (story of MY life). His fitbit didn't show any REM sleep. He blames the glycine. He often has nights like that and gets up to take trazadone, sometimes more than once per night. so I'm not sure he can really blame the glycine.

I also take magnesium and I didn't think it was doing anything until we ran out. I slept terribly and felt horrible during the day. I didn't even connect it to the lack of magnesium supplementation until we got more and I realized I felt better within 24 hours.
