Purchase Bilevel AirCurve 10S or AirCurve 10 AUTO?

Post by trigger » Thu Feb 08, 2018 11:53 pm

Hi all. I'm new to the forum and am looking for advice. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea last June and was prescribed a cpap. My pressure was 17, then 18 and again to 19 to try and improve my theorpy. Finally was given another sleep study in Nov 2017. The tech found that bipap was what I needed and the doctor prescribed a bipap machine. Yes, I had the second study done at a different clinic, thank god. It has been a long process but I finally found out what my out of pocket cost was going to be. The machine, a ResMed Airsence 10, as quoted from the DME will be about $2000 my cost because of my deductible. My setting is 10/5.
My question is that I want to just purchase the machine myself from an online supplier and save a few hundred bucks and not have to deal with driving across town for it and future supplies. I am comfortable with going into the clinical setup and make changes if needed. I am thinking to get either the ResMed Aircurve 10S or the Aircurve 10 Auto. Can anyone shed some light on why I should get one over the other? To me it seems like having the benefit of a auto setting could be a benefit but maybe there is a good reason not to. Thank you in advance for the help and this sight is really great. By the way both machines are the same price.

no question, get the vauto.

it's simply the difference in cpap vs apap.

the vauto can do everything the 10s can do, and more, so it only makes sense to get the vauto if the price is the same.

Will your insurance pay their part for an internet purchase? If they will, it's a great way to go.

It sounds like you have already shopped around. Our forum sponsor is good to deal with and will match prices - https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... chine.html

Thank you all for the response. I talked to cpap.com today and they were very helpful. I plan to register with them and try to purchase the AirCurve Vauto.
