HBP medication and CPAP

Post by cub4bearin » Fri Feb 02, 2018 11:49 am

Hi people
Quick question.... I’m on Amlodioine 5mg for HBP. I take it in the evening before bed. I also take supplement 5-HTP at the same time for anxiety/depression and GABA in the morning for anxiety.
Can CPAP make my blood pressure even lower?
I sleep between 7-8 hrs a night. I have to be up around 5:30 but still feeling sleepy and not really rested. Don’t want just stop taking all of it at the same time, but trying find out what may cause my droggines sometimes?

Thanks

Amplodipine could cause drowsiness. Using CPAP can lower HBP in some people. I take amplodipine myself and still exhausted too. CPAP hasn't lowered my BP either. Definitely worth talking with your doctor though to maybe change meds to see if it makes a difference.

If you've been taking medicine for blood pressure and then start using CPAP, it's possible that the medicine can start working "too well." Monitor your BP carefully. If it falls too low call the doc who prescribed CPAP and/or the doc who prescribed BP medicine to adjust your dosage (don't adjust the dosage yourself).
