Linda,

Good luck on Wednesday. I hope all goes well for you.

I love your ideas about using the posts for a book. Some of the posts really pull at your heart strings. It would be very theraputic to have access to a book recounting peoples real life experiences using their actual first post on the forum as a jumping off point then describing their life as it lead them to treatment and then how they've progressed since treatment. Some have tremedous success and some have tragic failure. A recipe for a great book!

Mike, great idea about the charitable purpose. I'd love to see a way for people who can't afford to pay for a sleep study etc.. to get treated.

On the subject of politics I've gotten a laugh from those who wish to leave the country now that Bush has been re-elected. I'm a strong Bush supporter, but I would not have left the Country if Kerry had gotten elected (at least not by choice HA!)

I won't hate you because your liberal if you don't hate me because I'm conservative. And of course we all love our friends to the north in Canada (although Mike is a transplanted American so we love him double )
Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!

Thanks guys for the love. I am originally from Kentucky. Honestly, I describe myself as a conservative Democrat. I am a Christian so I am conservative, and I know what it is like to work hard, spend wisely and still not have enough to get by on, so I can't say I relate to Republicans well. As for me being in Canada, my wife is Canadian and I have to say I love it here. But even it is bitter sweet. There is about 1/10,000 of the crime here (honestly) than the states, which is awesome. But on the other hand, every thing is "okay", which is great for liberals, but not for my taste. I won't go in to details, but it just scares me to death to think of the next great taboo, and the next, and the next. But anyway, on to the subject of the book. I think this is a great idea. Do any of us have any writing or research skills? Can each of us start "copy and pasteing" select post into some MS Word files? We need a leader though to delegate and organize, anyone willing to step up?
Thanks,

Mike

Mike

Maybe one of the moderators can give us some direction on the legalities of publishing content from the forum.

One other concern I have is if it known that the forum is being monitored for the purpose of publishing content for a book it may discourage people from posting.

The content of these posts along with some additional info could make a very useful book for newbie and experienced cpapers.
Sincerely,

Say, you both had some well thoughtout ideas!

I volunteer compiling book stuff. Suggestion, perhaps you both and others could e-mail me thoughts or interesting things clipped from the forum or any other source. I would never ever use anyone's username, and could paraphrase things as needed. I could be a central point to put things together. At first I would just paste everything in one on-going Microsoft Word file, and re-arrange or change it later. You know any good cartoonists?

We wouldn't have to say any of it's from the forum. But we could make it in the form of a "dialog" like a conversation going on, a collection of thoughts and ideas, making it like what it is, a collection of voices. We could do it like a forum without saying it is one. Then, when we get famous, you two can go on television and thank everybody, give proceeds to some cause we agree on.

I've started doing something like this before, but on a totally different topic. But I wasn't able to get enough interesting material together. But I would be willing to try this.

I'm embarrassed, but I've already tried my hands at an introduction, a kind of personal tongue-in-cheek explanation for the book. A book would be good (do they already exist, I haven't checked) because not everyone has access to internet.

For grins, I've given the file a working title (just a working title, mind you) of "God Help Me. I've Got Sleep Apnea!" Ok, I can leave God out of it. I see the whole thing as light-hearted, but honest, or as honest as possible.

If this sounds good, try e-mailing something. And whenever you want to view the latest version of the compiled material, I could always e-mail it. Perhaps one of you could check in with a moderator for advice, since I don't know them.

..........and I won't discriminate against conservatives. And, being liberal doesn't mean we all crave to do sick things. Having sleep apnea is sick enough.

Linda This is very kind of you to step up and be willing do gather, organize and store all of this material. I certainly appreciate it very much. Perhaps we can talk to the moderators, let them know what we are wanting to do and see if they would permit a thread on this forum asking people to contribute the most and least helpful advice, ect what worked, what didn't, what worked when they did something else first etc etc etc. This way each person would know they were contributing and would therefore express consent by doing so. I actually love the title, conservatives actually like publicly acknowledging God. lol No worries, I think we all (liberals and conservatives) will all get along just fine, like we already have. It appears the three of us have bonded instantly. Perhaps we should private message each other and give personal e-mail addies so we can discuss this further in privacy. Maybe even learn more of each other's backgrounds, etc.
Thanks,

Mike

Good idea.

I'm new at learning this messaging thing. But I'll give it a try.

Linda, Just below this message are two small boxes, profile and PM me, the PM stands for private message. Actually you can get my email from my profile I believe. I'll try to PM you too. I believe you check them by clicking the box at the top right corner beside where you click to log out.

Talk to you soon,

Mike
Thanks,

Mike
