switching to bipap machine
I have just been switched to a ResMed AirCurve 10 bipap machine. I have not had any trouble with the change. My AHI is around 15 now, whereas on my CPAP machine, my index was usually around 5. Any thoughts as to whether this sounds normal? I feel well during the day, even though I continue to awaken several times during the night. My transition seems quite easy, but the numbers don't reflect that. Just wondering if I need to allow several weeks for my body to get used to this new exhalation process, since I was given no information concerning this. I appreciate any reader's comments. Thanks!

Why was the switch made???MichiganMary wrote:I have just been switched to a ResMed AirCurve 10 bipap machine. I have not had any trouble with the change. Re: switching to bipap machine
I was switched to bipap therapy for several reasons. After 3 1/2 years of CPAP use, with pressures changing from variable 12-20, and ending with the pressure set at 15, I was doing less and less well. Daytime tiredness, morning headaches, and night sweats were some of my symptoms. I have both obstructive and central apneas also, which I was originally diagnosed with.

You have been struggling with your treatment for many years. I strongly suggest reviewing the three links below so that you can learn how to better manage your treatment.MichiganMary wrote:I was switched to bipap therapy for several reasons. Re: switching to bipap machine
You may be having some clear airway events, as you body gets use to bpap. Or your pressure may not be right. Get some sleepyhead charts up for some opinions

Not normal for the AHI to increase.MichiganMary wrote: have just been switched to a ResMed AirCurve 10 bipap machine. I have not had any trouble with the change. My AHI is around 15 now, whereas on my CPAP machine, my index was usually around 5. Any thoughts as to whether this sounds normal?
What is the AHI composed of? How much in each event category index?
What are your settings?

Re: switching to bipap machine
Thank you to TedVPAP, ajack, and to Pugsy for taking the time to try and help. I will look at the suggested links, and see what I can do with them, especially with posting info. This part is all new to me. For most of my CPAP etc information, I have to rely on sites such as this forum. I'm finding that what seems to be a pretty precise science is still very complicated, and not exact.
Re: switching to bipap machine
as soon as you get a sleepyhead chart up, The forum can give their opinions on what is going on.
