Re: Mask suggestions for a friend
I had similar issues and a chin strap never worked for me. 2 things worked, 1. taping, 2. some kind of full face mask. Right now I'm using the one that sits under your nose and just covers your mouth with 2 holes on the top for the nose (considered hybrid). Working pretty well, but I have to strap i...

Re: High daytime anxiety after using CPAP
Not medical advise, but consider the tiredness and lack of sleep and damage from the hypoxia, plus possible night time adrenaline bursts were keeping any daytime anxiety masked. In addition without the nighttime adrenaline spikes it could feel like overactive adrenals during the day. If it's not too...

Re: O.T. Covid Vaccine Reaction in Diabetics?
thanks for the warning, I'm not officially diabetic, but I do get high "borderline" a1c if I don't consistently exercise, take my supplements, and eat relatively low carb. I'll have to watch out for how I'm feeling. I want to get a blood tester but don't have the extra moolah right now. Latest readi...

Re: FDA Authorizes OSA Appliance to Wear While Awake
Interesting... Also highly annoying that they didn't test it on patients above 15 AHI, so it's "not intended for severe apnea sufferers" when in fact they don't know the outcomes for severe sufferers. I might test it out anyway.

Re: Nasal sore, possibly CPAP related?
I was able to get rid of it by switching to the total face mask. Now I just have to figure out the exact right pressure on the straps not to shove my jaw back. Actually I figured that out last night, and the pressure wasn't nearly as high when I woke up, so I think it's going better.

Nasal sore, possibly CPAP related?
I have a sore just on the inside of my nose (left nostril towards the center), that can't seem to heal. I've tried putting lanolin, antibiotic ointment. Sometimes it gets better, but I think it's possibly a pressure sore partially from the pressure of the mask holding against the bottom of my nose.....

Re: Only 4hrs continuous sleep with CPAP
Not sure how much literature there is on it, other then I did see a study showing recently treated apnea sufferers having higher creatine levels at night (indicating prep for energy stores)... in other words you've been doing cardio every night for years and suddenly you aren't . your body doesn't i...

Re: New CPAP user needs help: waking up often
It would also be helpful if you posted sleep results with your new machine ( I think there is a thread pinned at top on how to do it). Bad sleep can also be related to not fully treated apnea. Other possible reasons for sleep issues: 1) Nasal masks - for some people (depending on mouth architecture,...

Re: Respironics FitLife Total Face Mask - anybody using it?
Really poor fit for me, I have a huge head, but a long back to front head, wide mouth, but side to side my mouth starts sloping back faster then average. so huge gaps on the sides of my mouth with the mask that was "big enough" for the rest.

Re: beards
I do nasal and tape plus have a chin and mouth strap. How do I tape with a beard? using lanolin... after being strapped down with the chin/mouth strap the tape eventually sticks to my lips/beard/lanolin. Taking the tape off can be a chore though but the lanolin makes it possible.

Re: Relationship between consumption of alcohol and sleep apnea
Now that I read your follow up post I'm guessing the original doc doesn't agree with the ridiculous number of 15 AHI and wanted to do you a solid by suggesting you drink and sleep on your back, so that you'd qualify for the machine. You should shake the man's hand, stop whinning about clearly having...

Re: Relationship between consumption of alcohol and sleep apnea
No idea why the doc said this, though I can say that when I heavily drink my apnea goes way down. Maybe because I can sleep on my side all night? Or maybe because it disturbs REM sleep. I don't drink now though and may apnea hasn't really changed other then that odd time where I'd sleep on my side a...

Re: Hypoxia and adhesions?
I know it's too late, but I would scream bloody murder and demand to see the Administration etc until they let me use my CPAP. Threaten class action law suit for forcing me to pay for and use their CPAP etc. Sometimes it's appropriate to Karen it up.

Re: Irritability/anger
I stopped taping and slowly got more tired and irrititable. Not to suggest that's the issue, but adjusting therapy and eliminating any sleep disturbances may help.
