I am using a Respironics PR760 BiPAP and while the results have been OK there are events shown on Sleepyhead that don’t make sense.

I have just purchased an S9 Bilevel auto to see if that will be an even better choice. It will be here in the next couple of weeks. My current settings on the PR are IPAP max 20, EPAP min 10.5, with a PS range of 2.5 to 5

Would I use similar settings on the S9? The PS system appears to be different.

The algorithms are different on both machines so you won't get head to head readings.

The ResMed only offers a fixed PS so you will need to pick a PS that you like and use fixed. Maybe 3 or maybe 4 depending on comfort since you were using 2.5 to start with on the Respironics.
With a little more EPAP that is going to push IPAP up a bit so you could maybe lower EPAP a little to offset it.

Like Julie says, different algorithms though and even if you could exactly match the settings it wouldn't be a head to head comparison because of the algorithm differences.
The ResMed is a bit more aggressive....not a lot but a bit more quick to respond. You may be able to get by with slightly less starting pressures and still get very good numbers.

I think if it were me I would maybe look at 10 EPAP min 3 PS and max IPAP of 20 (won't matter if you don't ever reach it what max is).
See what happens.

OK, the machine has arrived and it's only got 115 run hours on it which is good.

I've gone into the clinicians menu and set these values

IPAP Max 20.0
EPAP Min 9.0
PS 3.6

There are more settings which the Respironics didn't have. They are
Ti Max (currently set at default of 2.0)
Ti Min (0.3)
Trigger (med)
Cycle (med)
Start EPAP 4.0 (Greyed out)

What do I do with these? (I am assuming they are all factory defaults).

Are there any other settings that I should think about?

Why not pick one brand and work on making it work, instead of playing around. Jim

That's what I've been doing with the PR760 for the last 8 months.

A good first night with an AHI of 0.26. This consisted of 1 hypopnea and 1 CA. Both were right at the beginning of my sleep and followed each other. The smooth pressure lines in SH are so different from the PR760 (no unexplained spikes, etc) and I think I can see where the machine jumped in very quickly to prevent an event.

Two interesting points:

This machine seems so much easier to breathe with. In hindsight I felt that I had to breathe quite a bit harder with the Respironics - the Resmed seems smooth in comparison.

The leak rate is also improved. I could feel the air being pushed around the edges of the nasal pillow unless I set it just right with the PR. Not so with the Resmed and a leak rate of 13.2 at 90% is a good result.

The PS 90% range with the PR760 ranged between 2.5 (my min setting) and 4.6 with 3.5 being a quite common score so I'll leave my PS at 3.6 for the moment.

I'll also leave the Ti, Trigger and cycle settings there as well.

OK it's early days but I'm already thinking that I've made a good choice by switching.
