Hi - new here. New to CPAP. After first cleaning with mild soapy water, silicone clouded up. There was oil on there, and as an oil painter who cleans oil from her hands every day, thought I'd share a tip. It restored the silicone to a transparent/like new state immediately.
When cleaning mask seal, apply mild dish soap first - no water yet. Gently move only the dish soap around the silicone until you see the oils start to move. You can feel them release as the dish soap molecule surrounds the oil molecule. Then rinse with warm water. If water is used too soon it will only repel the oil.

Re: Clean Silicone
I have extremely hard water. Unless I rinse with DISTILLED water,
the film returns, no matter what I do. I only use Dawn on my cpap supplies.
All those cute little duckies . . .

Re: Clean Silicone
Yes, the film is oil from the face. Dawn applied first without water and gently rubbed on the silicone will remove the fresh oils, then rinse with whatever water after. It will be like new, until the oils build up again.
