AirCurve 10 VAuto

Post by Deb321 » Wed Nov 29, 2017 2:28 am

After 5 yrs of using the Resmed S9, it finally stopped working.. I was given a AirCurve 10 VAuto.. I am having a hard time with this machine even though I have only had it since November 23.. It uses so much more water than my older one..Someone said this machine has a Smart setting that shuts off automatically when the mask is removed.. I havent found how yet.. Anyone else finding this machine hard on water? I am a newbie here

SmartSense needs to be turned on for the machine to turn off automatically when the mask is removed.
While this manual is for a different model machine how to get to the clinical menu setup area to turn on SmartSense is the same in all the ResMed models.
https://sleep.tnet.com/home/files/resme ... -guide.pdf

Now if you go into your clinical setup menu area to turn on SmartStart and you find it already on then it might be that the Auto On part works great but the Auto Off part doesn't work so great. I have this happen to me. It's because I use a nasal pillow mask and a rather low pressure. It's common and seems to be more per snickety than the S9 was. It's fairly common and doesn't mean the machine is broken.

And yes, the new models do seem to use a bit more water. I had that same experience going from the S9 to the AirCurve/AirSense models.
Part of it is the settings on the machines aren't quite the same...see the chart
https://www.resmed.com/us/dam/documents ... sa_eng.pdf
If you have enough water to last all night and your nose is happy then don't worry about it. If you are running out of water in one night then maybe make some minor adjustments.

I went to Clinical and Smart setting said OFF and it would not let me turn it on.. Also I only have 2 bars on my machine.. How do I get more bars? I am running low on water every night.. I called the place where I get my Bipap and was told I should empty the water every morning and fill it up.. I told her that I run out of water but she said no concern.. Heck, the way this is going I will need to buy 5 gallons of distilled water every week..Thanks for the reply

If by bars you are talking about the cellular modem signal, don't be concerned. I only have 1 most of the time but my data gets uploaded just fine.

Is the Smart setting you went to change the Smart Start setting?
If so, is the menu for Leak Alert turned ON by chance? When Leak Alert is turned on that disables SmartStart.
Turn off Leak Alert and Smart Start should be accessible.

Or were you referring to something else sensing something?

If you turn Leak Alert off you will still have to go in and turn Smart Start on I think. So be sure to go into the setup menu and see what the status shows for Smart Start. All the Leak Alert setting does when it is on is make it so a person can't get into Smart Sense to make any changes.
I don't remember what the default setting is for Smart Sense is.

Move your machine to a better location for cellular reception.

wish I could sell it but I have to keep it 13 months before insurance completely pays for it...It is on an agreement with my insurance that I use it for at least 4 hrs a night for 13 months or I will have to pay for it
