Pet urine smell
I recently stayed at a friend's house for a few days and there was a strong urine smell throughout the house that seems to have gotten into my CPAP machine. I have replaced the hose my mask and the filter and there still a smell. Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? I don't want to have to buy a new machine.
*edit I am indeed 100% serious. I can't breathe this in anymore. I may have to discontinue use until it is sorted out.

Re: Pet urine smell
Have you tried running the machine for ? number of hrs without you being attached (just to air out)?

Re: Pet urine smell
I agree...run the machine outside for several hours.
Do you know how to make a machine run and not shut itself off? It can be a bit tricky for some of the machines...I found that out by accident myself.
There's some foam insulation type of material inside the blower that has likely absorbed some of the odor and needs a lot of air moving through it to get cleaned out. These machines can be taken apart and the foam insulation cleaned but that's a lot of work and often just 8 to 12 hours in the fresh air outside will do the job for you and that's a lot less work.

Nitrogen feeding bacteria is what's responsible for urine smell. Ozone does a great job of killing those bacteria.
Ozium is perhaps the more popular ozone spray product that I have used to get rid of all types bacteria generated odors. However, if you use Ozium, you will definitely want to run the blower for 2+ hours before you use the machine to sleep with. Also, it's best to use the unscented version of Ozium (you can find it at most auto parts stores for $4 to $6).

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
Re: Pet urine smell
Fascinating. I've noticed for years that if I go somewhere else, like to a hotel or to visit family, then when I get home, I can still smell the other place when I turn on my cpap. I've never had a truly horrible smell, though, so I just used it as is. The smell always goes away in a day or two. This supports the idea that airing it out by running it for a few hours may help. Hope you get it fixed!Pugsy wrote:There's some foam insulation type of material inside the blower that has likely absorbed some of the odor and needs a lot of air moving through it to get cleaned out. Re: Pet urine smell
Spray cotton balls with Ozium, place next to intake (not while wearing mask)
Run machine for an hour, check for smell. Repeat if needed.
Ozium works for icky smells in a car, too.

***Update***
I slept without my machine last night but let it run the entire night, there is some improvement, but i will try running outdoors for a few hours tonight, and the Ozium if necessary. Thank you all for your help.
