how to remove and change diffuser
how to remove and change diffuser
I recently started using an eson nose mask. However, I am not able to remove the diffuser on the swivel elbow. I don't feel any seams. I would appreciate a detailed step by step instruction on how to remove the diffuser cage, replace the diffuser and then replace the cage. Thank you for your consideration.
Re: how to remove and change diffuser
Just curious, why do you want to replace it?
It may not be possible for you to change it... not every part of masks are removable and only some have replacement parts - those replaceable for your mask on Cpap.com's product pg of parts don't include that piece, only the diffuser filter.

Uhhh, because it is dirty or worn.Julie wrote:Just curious, why do you want to replace it?
Q Cover
The Q Cover diffuser offers a exhalation port unlike any other. A “shield” housing a soft foam diffuser covers the air outtake reducing both draft and noise. The Q Cover removes easily allowing for the diffuser to be replaced as needed.

typically, all filters need to be cleaned or changed now and then, this one's no different.Julie wrote:Just curious, why do you want to replace it?

The mask comes with replacement filters, so I thought I should replace it at some time. That's all.

did you get the clip off?winta804 wrote:The mask comes with replacement filters, so I thought I should replace it at some time. That's all.
you can probably also wash the filters in some hot soapy water, and reuse them.
I did that with my F&P mask that had a filter on it.

This shows an image of how the clip that retains the diffuser installs over the swivel.
Just pry it off and replace the diffuser.

Re: how to remove and change diffuser
The diffuser filter cap snaps on with pressure. Grasp both sides of cap and pull away. The filters get filthy rather quickly. I find they should be changed frequently. Absurdly, the replacement filters for the diffuser cap are not covered by insurance (unlike the machine filters which are) because one or more come with the made.
It’s ridiculous and unconscionable that there are no instructions or ways to ask questions and patients are left to trial and error; it (lack of information) causes delay in solving problems and negatively affects health. My medical equipment supplier doesn’t know anything either.
My problem now is a steady-stream leak from the diffuser. Perhaps the cap is not placed rightly or the mask itself has structural changes over time. There is NOinformation available. I took the mask into the equipment supplier 2 hours round trip) and they didn’t know anything.
Manufacturers refuse to help or answer questions.

You should have answered sooner. winta804 died in June 2016 because he could not get the cap off.Shoo wrote:The diffuser filter cap snaps on with pressure. Grasp both sides of cap and pull away.

Tain't funny, McGee. This could still be useful to someone new who does a search on how to remove the diffuser. I'm relatively new and have learned much by reading old threads.Hang Fire wrote:You should have answered sooner. winta804 died in June 2016 because he could not get the cap off.Shoo wrote:The diffuser filter cap snaps on with pressure. Re: how to remove and change diffuser
Well, I'm grateful for this thread. I just fired up my old PR System One CPAP, and I can't find any how-to ANYWHERE for replacing the diffuser. It doesn't look especially dirty, but it's been in there for a few years! I did just buy a new F&P Eson 2 Mask so maybe I'll just punt and start using that. The diffuser just looks as if it should be able to come out, LOL!Bertha deBlues wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2017 12:11 pmTain't funny, McGee.
