Leaks

Post by AMESS » Fri Nov 03, 2017 6:11 am

How can I have more leaks with a liner than without?

Not a good experience. Silky material moved mask around. Felt inclosed. What am I doing wrong?

Do not get a liner for a leak. Get a liner for comfort!

That was my initial thought about porous liners - they let air through - but I haven't used them and most people say they work....

I was just thought that soft plastic directly on the skin (both non-porous to air) would give a better seal, but so much about xPAP doesn't work the way I thought it would.

I believe you are correct, Max. It doesn't seem likely that a porous material would stop leaks. When I have tried them, average leaks increased. I think the advantage of liners is that they quiet leaks, reducing disturbances from squeals. Additionally, I think some find the liners more comfortable against the skin than the bare silicon.

Two questions: Are the leaks getting into the major leak range? Are the leaks waking you up? If the answer is no, don't worry about them. I have found I did better with my home made liners than with a purchased liner.

Not keeping me up--not in major range --but mask keeps slipping and that keeps me up

The best would be to gorilla glue it on, never come off then. AMESS is the same as Max, will disregard all suggestions, they will predetermine that it won't work. How the heck did we go through a dozen or so masks until we found the "RIGHT" one
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Not sure why you're dragging me into this, but let me ask you:

What FFM out there is smaller than the Amara View? What FFM has a top mounted hose?

There is a reason I chose a nasal mask for my titration, and a reason I chose the Dreamwear for my first mask.

Maybe, just maybe, I know myself better than you all know yourselves. I have not had any significant problems fitting either of my masks. The View took a few tries to get leak free, but it is now totally leak free until it gets in the way or gets shoved by a pillow.
