Aircurve 10 Vauto shut down on its own last night

Post by Turntex » Mon Oct 09, 2017 5:22 pm

I have a brand new Aircurve 10 Vauto that I have used for about 3 weeks now. Last night, I awoke gasping for air and unable to breath. Shortly I had pressure again and all went back to normal. Forgot about it when I woke up this morning but upon reviewing my data in Sleepyhead, I see a gap of a little over 2 minutes with no data at all. The power did not go off last night, I am sure of that. Just a fluke or something to look into closer? Anyone else ever had this happen?

What was the leak graph showing immediately before the blank space when it turned off?

Do you have SmartSense turned on or off?

No chance of a power blip. Clocks were all correct and none of the computers restarted or shut down. I do have autosense on. Here is the graph during the period.

If the leak was bad enough with SmartStart turned on the machine might think you weren't attached and turned itself off.
But I don't see the leak being that bad right before it turned itself off.
I have hit 50 L/min leak line and mine didn't shut off.

Maybe a freak thing but if it happens again alert the DME you bought it from. It shouldn't be doing that unless a really big leak and I just don't see it on this report.

One other possible cause...loose power connection...cord maybe got bumped or move or something. So double check your power plug into the machine and at the power brick and the wall outlet.

Oh...and a couple of times my cat has walked across my machine and stepped on the on/off button.

Maybe the power cord is loose at your cpap not affecting the rest of the house.
Do you have pets?

We have cats but we do not allow them to stay in our room. I checked the power cord at all places it plugs in. All good. We have a VERY reliable power grid here and the power only goes out once every couple of years during really bad storms. It is extremely rare here.

I would also raise the Epap till the OA drop out and then the PS till the H clear up. I'd go to epap 17 and see how it is.

also it is possible you are chin tucking and constricting the airway, thus need high pressure to overcome this. a cheap foam cervical collar will tell you if this is the case.

My damn machine quit twice again last night/early morning. This is the third time it has happened. Should I try contacting Resmed or my DME? Is Resmed easy to get ahold of? Here is the chart for those who will certainly ask. Aircurve 10 Vauto with smart start on. And no, there is no chance the power went off or the connections were loose. This time when I woke up, I looked at the machine and it was still on. It did it twice last night as you can see from the graph.

Turn Smart Start off.
I think that there is a real good chance the large leak that is causing the machine to turn off. If you look at the leak immediately before the break in therapy it is quite large.

You need to do some serious work on the leaks.

I had my leaks under control nicely. Then I decided that I needed to get a new cushion for my mask since it is 6 weeks old and felt like it had collapsed some. Now the leaks are back to what they were when I first started. I am going to go back to my old cushions tonight and not change them again until they are falling apart and leaking through the silicone. Screw what the manufacturers recommend for their money grabs!

Yes, cpap works better when the mask is actually on the face... something that's iffy in those graphs.

Such a helpful comment. Thanks for that bit of insight. All along I thought I belonged on the pillow beside me!

I have a bunch of medication to take and I sometimes mix up my mask with my suppository. I don't mind that much, as the mask seems to wash ok. I'll admit, I still find that the suppositories leave a funny taste.
