Re: Odd Problem

My Dr (Board Certified Pulmonoligist and sleep DR) says he has trained his tongue to stay on the roof of his mouth. Really? Says he will show me next time--- Yup, that's how I used to do it and how I think most people do it. It works well. But for me, my tongue only remembered to stay there if my m...

Re: Tips for Mouth-breathers? I'm having some issues.

Mouth dryness is from breathing with your mouth open... This dryness is happening even when my mouth is closed. I know that for sure because I tested with my mouth taped. I was surprised by this too because like you, I thought that dryness only happens because of moving air. But it turns out that d...

Re: Tips for Mouth-breathers? I'm having some issues.

It strikes me that creating a seal back in your throat is counterproductive to Cpap in a big way - the whole point of Cpap is to open your throat, not create a closing just before air gets to it. Tongue sealing is about keeping your tongue tip up against your front teeth all night... somehow making...

Re: I need a way to get higher exhaled pressured relief (EPR)

It's very common for newbies to come here and say they can't exhale against the pressure. I thought it was very difficult to exhale when I first started with CPAP. After a few weeks of acclimation, I couldn't even tell the machine was producing a pressure. I was thinking about this when I woke up t...

Re: I need a way to get higher exhaled pressured relief (EPR)

It's the *exhale* pressure that keeps your airway open so you can take another breath. Why then does the machine bother to create higher pressure on the inhale? I'm not arguing with you, I just want to know. Why don't we just set a single max pressure for whatever works on exhalation and not bother...

Re: Tips for Mouth-breathers? I'm having some issues.

I co-sign prior suggestions - just have to figure out what works for you. I've used most of the techniques mentioned at some point until my mouth breathing finally stopped. The key for me was learning how to get a good suction seal by placing my tongue against the roof of my mouth pushed up against...

Re: Tips for Mouth-breathers? I'm having some issues.

Do you realize the (new) OP has not come back for answers? Any idea why that might be? Yes xxxxxy did his usual ghastly thing, but it might have been ignored by the OP and his question answered, but you have decided (Tas) to fight with him in the midst of the OP's first post in the forum, and I'm s...

Amen. This kind of stuff makes newcomers afraid to post and can even drive oldtimers away. Sometimes forums need moderation. Forums really do die.

Re: shards or debris in humidifier tank

I take it there's no chance that the shards are in the water before you put it in the humidifier tank. How big are the shards? Are they silicon dioxide? I don't know very much about this but the closest thing I can think of that is likely to be found in a home is silica gel dessicant. Could that be ...

Re: warning - do not buy cms 50d+ from amazon

THE DOCUMENTATION SAYS IT IS A USB CABLE Where does it say that? I just read and searched the manufacturer's manual from one end to the other, and they always say "data line" not "USB cable." In one place they call it the "affiliated data line" by which they apparently mean (their English is poor) ...

Great UARS info from Dr Park...... http://doctorstevenpark.com/tired-of-being-tired-%E2%80%94-the-upper-airway-resistance-syndrome I agree competely, that's a truly excellent article. As I've mentioned a few times recently here, Dr. Park is my doctor, and in my humble opinion, he really knows what ...

Re: Could this be UARS? Any advice?

My app is a simple, non-scientific iPhone app that I use just for some baseline sleep quality data. It’s called SleepCycle (https://www.sleepcycle.com/how-it-works/), and it uses the phone’s internal accelerometer if placed on the mattress, or the microphone to detect sound if placed on a nightstan...

Re: warning - do not buy cms 50d+ from amazon

I own two Contec/CMS fingertip oximeters, both of which I bought from Amazon, and both work perfectly. I just looked quickly at my order history on Amazon's site. It shows that I've bought about 450 items from Amazon since 2002 costing about ten thousand dollars. Out of those 450 purchases, I can re...
