Heated hose issue/ brief catch up.

Post by RestlessinWoolley » Fri Sep 22, 2017 12:30 am

Therapy has been going quite well. Hard to believe it's been almost a year since all the fun began for me. With the ASV my AHI has been one side of 1 AHI or another and the Doc is thrilled. We have fiddled with my pressures a bit, but still sitting at a 6/14 now 22 max, 11 BPM my Epap has been steady at 7 average.

Anyway a few nights ago I woke up to a kinda hot burning smell. I thought at the time it was just the amount of smoke from all the forest fires that's been in the area and it was time for a new fine filter. (I was going thru them weekly at the worst of the fire smoke) But over the last week I have noticed my hose does not seem to hear up as much as it used to. Even set at 5 max it took forever to feel warm air to get to me. I usually run the humidifier at 3-4 and the hose is usually at 3 unless I want warmer air to warm up a bit. No errors reported on the machine and it still shows the hose attached. No burn marks on the hose anywhere or breaks that I can see. Is there anyone that knows what the resistance wire should ohm out at and I can compare or someone with a multimeter ohm their Respironics Hose out and I can compare. I do qualify for a new hose next month with my resupply so I'm not too too worried about it.

I do go back in, one more time for an overnight. I had a significant cutback in my pain meds. My new neuro doc decided my old one of 12 years was incorrect about my seizures so I'm weaning off my seizure meds as well so the sleep doc with all the changes is calling me in to be sure it's not messing my centrals up, or possibly clearing them up, to see if I can get off the ASV and back to a bipap, but she's seen actually more centrals occuring in the dumps since I started cutbacks and my sleep has fallen back to it's old routine.

Also for a good laugh a week ago I got my EOB from Medicare and my Supplement. Also a call from Medicare clearing things up. Lincare finally billed out my first machine and supplies. 8 months after starting with them before switching to Sound Oxygen. Medicare Denied paying them and called to tell me if they try billing me to not pay and fax them the invoices if I get any. Denied on the grounds they were already paying for a machine from a different supplier. Person who called said as soon as I cancelled and returned my first machine if they had billed it they would of paid but since they waited 8 months and tried sneaking in a bill that old nope not paying and don't send the client a bill! Lincare did call me and apologize and said they hope they can earn my business back in the future. Their local office was also closed a month after I returned the machine and filed with the state AG of their shady dealings. It reopened last month next door to the old one with a totally new staff.

Anyway just popping in to say hi and all is well. The Dreamstation ASV has been a problem free unit and I just broke 1300 hours on the machine. My only complaint is it's size when traveling. Working in seeing if next year I can get the GO machine so when I travel I don't have to lug the beast around but I hear they don't have e a humidifier and I really need that.

Cheers and good tidings to everyone.

Good to hear from you again and to learn that your therapy is going so well.

Sorry, I can't help with the hose issue--my only experience of a burning smell was one night when I accidentally let the humidifier water reservoir run dry.

Cheers,
Jean
