Below that box is a list of the most recent posts people have made...go down and highlight the portion/person you want to direct your reply to or about what someone said...once highlighted click on the red quote button by the screen ID of the person who said what you want to reply to.
The text you highlighted should show up in the open reply box you are typing in.
Click on "preview" to see what it will show up as when you hit the submit button.
If it is the way you want it you can then click submit. If not you can go back and fix things.

You can reply this way to more than one person in one reply if you wish.

Oh boy, need new glasses can not even find find a red bottom ... ...

And I thought Lovegrove was asking for PM (Private Massage or maybe Personal Message?) Things are great here and don't take them for granted...
Somewhere is a PM and that allows you to send a message only to that person without any others seeing it. Only use it if it is personal. Lots of good things come up here I would never have seen other ways. Thanks

Is there a way I can reply to people individually?
Anyway, was supposed to see my respiratory specialist today but feel too ghastly to go
Julie: well I actually caught the machine evening things out last night. After couple hours sleep the AHI was 9, then after a couple more hours stewing awake (with machine on) it had gone down to 8
Rainmom: my mask is silicone; I will take your suggestions on board
TASmart: thanks for your sympathy and encouragement
TedVPAP: believe me, the drive to change masks, change between auto and fixed, try different pressures is all coming from me, not the tech
Cardsfan: no, I am not the artist, sorry!
Luvsblueberries: I guess the mask for her is pink. I will look into it further, thank you
Machine: Dreamstation auto with heated humidifier and hose
Pressure on fixed is 11, at the moment it is auto between 7 and 11
What we need is to see your data. Without that it is just guessing.

Reply and another question from Lovegrove (how come my name has changed?)

Chunky Frog: Cheers

TedVPAP: thanx. Don't have access to my data (it is not my machine)

Question: an idea passed on by LIBRARY LADY gave me a bit of a breakthrough at the eleventh hour ( I have to hand all equipment back tomorrow - WOO HOO!)
DIY mask liners which I cut from an old Tshirt. It had already been downgraded to a dishcloth, but hey, it was nicely washed. Success at the second cut of a vague donut shape. It stayed in place, alleviated some of the discomfort and, I think, (I was mostly unconscious for a change), cut down leaks. Good One!
Summer is a-comin in (it was 35 C on my verandah yesterday - bodes no good) which begs the question: how do you bear a mask, let alone with a mask liner, on your face on hot and humid nights?
Any suggestions, please.

Well, it's farewell from me for the present at least, I am off on a cat-sit by the sea. I have another trial booked so I can get more experience (=procrastinate). Well I can't commit financially to a machine till I have got it right.

Thanx for all your generous help
Cheers Lovegrove

After only two days you are throwing in the towel - you didn't give us a chance to help your therapy.
The data is stored on an SD card in most machines. Remove card and insert in a card reader which most computers have.
When you return, please bring data. Good luck.

Oh, TedVPAP, you do me wrong.
I stuck it against panic attacks, sleep deprivation for a month. And I've put myself up for another month of torture. And you have all already helped.
See ya in a month or so.
Ps I only have a tablet ( that's maybe why I can't quote properly)

I've been using my cpap for 6 months and almost every week I threaten to throw in the towel. I don't feel any different using it. My AHI levels each morning (according to the DreamMapper app) run as high as 6.8 and at the sleep study were only 5.1 or 5.4. I am confused, discouraged and just plain tired of this.

Hi Love,

I don't know if this will help you or not. I have a full face mask too, the Philips Amara. I have had a lot of trouble with it leaking above the nose into my eyes. What I have felt helped a lot, was to loosen the straps at the top a of the mask a little(the ones that go from face gear towards your ears). Then I tighten the lower ones a little bit.

I try to make sure the top of the mask will have a little 'bounce' or 'spring back' - meaning I can push it closer to my face, and it pops back out. It seems a little too loose, but when you turn on the pressure, it's like a tire making a bead around a rim and the mask fills out and creates a good seal.

If the mask doesn't move closer to my face when I push on it(it's already tight) then I find during the night, I have leaks and the mask seems to move up a bit and block my nostrils.

Hope this helps a bit. Try not to get discouraged, get your certified sales person to let you try a different mask if this doesnt work out. If they won't, then change to a different one. It happened to me that the local sales lady refused to give me a loaner mask, but I sent an email to the head of the company, and had a private meeting with him where he assured me that he would make sure I would find a mask that works.

This industry is very profit driven and your health is not really their concern, they are out to make money. You need to always be in control of your sleep therapy. Don't be afraid to take your business, or threaten to take it elsewhere if they don't do what you need require.

Good luck, it can only get better!!

Took me a year to get used to sleeping the entire night with mine for the first 6 months I got 4 hours of sleep a night I would go to bed at 10pm wake up at 2 or 2:30 am lay there till 4-5 am get go to work. Because my apnea was so bad I actually functioned better with 4 hours of CPAP vr sleeping 8 hours without the CPAP. I had to exhaust myself to be able to get used to sleeping with it very difficult to learn to sleep with something on your face. I was able to do it by actually wearing it loosely on my face not worry about leaking then over time adjusting it tighter. The way I keep it from leaking is carefully adjusting it so the mask is evenly pushed to my face. Don't give up on it keep trying different mask I was not able to sleep with the full face mask I used a nasal mask and a strap which goes under my chin to keep my mouth shut I only had to use that for a month train myself to stop opening my mouth. You might find it easier to ditch the full face mask and go to a chin strap with nasal mask.
