Confused by mask liner

Post by Rainmom17 » Fri Sep 08, 2017 6:19 pm

First off, my apologies for not looking to see if there's already a thread out there about this. Ok, so my pad-a-cheek liner arrived today. I put it on the mask as the directions show. When I put the mask on, the hole accommodates my nose but my mouth is covered with the fabric. As I do frequently mouth-breathe, I should cut the hole larger for my mouth too, yes? I feel dumb asking, but that's okay. Just looking for a quick answer. Thanks!

Yes, I think you enlarge the existing hole per your needs. Karen makes the holes intentionally smaller so that people can trim to suit their needs. You can always cut something away but can't put it back.
When you enlarge the hole do just a little cutting away ...little at a time until you get it to suit you so the nose and mouth are open.

Remember...you can always cut a little more but can't put it back once it is cut away so you may need to make several trimming trips to get it where you want it.

My wife and I both enlarged the hole in the mask liner. Just be careful not to get it too big. The hole should not go all the way to the mask seal area.

First night with mask liner - very comfortable! AHI was still higher than I want (4.2) and still a big red mark on my nose. But, every time I woke during the night (which is still way too many), I had to check to make sure I was still wearing the mask and that the cpap was on! So, liner wins in terms of comfort. The cool softness vs the hot stickiness of the silicone is definitely a plus. Now to get everything else worked out...Am getting an Amara View today, so will get to have another experiment tonight.

How often do you wash one - once a week?

If you are asking about washing the mask liner, I do mine once a week. I use a small mesh laundry bag, like for delicates, and I throw it in with the sheets. washer and dryer. Mine has held up for 6 months so far.
