Tips for fighting exhaustion until I can start treatment
Re: Tips for fighting exhaustion until I can start treatment
If you like to sleep on your stomach and are comfortable with it, check out the "falcon position ". It has been recommended by others on the board. It works with XPAP.
In the meantime, some use soft cervical collars to supplement their therapy. Cost is minimal. Keeps the chin up thus helps to maintain open airways.
To speed up your access to treatment, contact sleep doctor, see if he will prescribe a loaner/rental for you until all the results are in.

I have one too ... please?, here!
it would be best if "you" start breathing evenly during sleep.
If - just in case - any constraints (like a SRBD) keep you from that, well, than you have to look for other options.
LSAT actually is right

I can get pretty bad acid reflux during the day but I never realised it could be causing issues with my sleep. Something to look into!Julie wrote:If you have a recliner, try sleeping in that - upright seems to lessen apnea events. I'd also check with my MD re getting x-rays etc. for your back - if you have scoliosis it could definitely have an effect on sleep position. And do use the knee pillow idea. But I don't recommend going crazy with coffee - it may suit that poster, but otherwise is not known to be an answer to anything except that it could aggravate GERD (acid reflux) in a big way, something associated too often with apnea and it''s also called 'silent' Gerd, wakening you just enough to spoil your sleep (as apnea does) but not enough for you to be aware of it and address it properly.
On another note. The site didnt like the e(dot)g(dot) in your post because it looks like a link and made me remove it

Thanks for letting me know about that!

Thanks cpapian. Ive seen the falcon position mentioned a couple of times here, I'll look into that and the soft cervical collar. Much appreciated! Hopefully I'll get my first results soon and when I do the 2nd study, I will definitely see if renting is an option. Much appreciated!Cpapian wrote:If you like to sleep on your stomach and are comfortable with it, check out the "falcon position ". It has been recommended by others on the board. It works with XPAP.

Re: Tips for fighting exhaustion until I can start treatment
I am going crazy waiting for my results! The daytime exhaustion does get old in the meantime. I indulge in 1-2 coffees early in the day. I'm worried too much will make my sleep difficult.
I wish I could sleep without an alarm... I'd never show up to work if I didn't have 4 alarms set on my phone
I don't know if this applies to you but I'm never drinking enough water, so I constantly have a water bottle nearby. Nothing worse than being tired AND dehydrated. Plus having to pee all the time will be a good way to be moving throughout your day lol

If you're at a computer screen for large parts of the day, ideally you should be getting up to move around and rest your eyes a couple times an hour; now you've got a second motivator to do that (to prevent drowsing)!ThatGuyTyh-ish wrote: I work as a web developer so I'm sitting at a desk most of my day unfortunately, but I'll try to take little walks in the afternoon to keep me going

Waiting is the worst. I sometimes feel anxious that they will come back and say that there aren't enough events or something silly like that and that I won't be able to get treatment.palindrome17 wrote:I am going crazy waiting for my results! I don't worry about my alarm so much. My wife has an extra 4 just in case
I have to make a conscious effort to drink water. Even when I'm really good about it, it doesn't last lol I have to be careful not to drink too much in the afternoon though because I have a 1 hour drive from work to daycare with no possible stops. That can make for a very uncomfortable ride lol

Upon retirement, I turned off my alarms.
I still wake up at the same damn time.

Ahh I hear ya. I work in surgery so my effort in drinking water totally disappears during work since I can't go to the bathroom when I feel like it Getting a big bottle often helps so you can visualize the goal of how much you need to drink

My 2 year old likes to get us up nice and early on weekends. Please don't ruin the dream of retirement for me. Please.chunkyfrog wrote:Upon retirement, I turned off my alarms.
