Re: Alcohol and CPAP
If I have a few drinks too many I sleep like a log. It is the only time I almost sleep all through the night. Its a bit rough to do every night though.

I can honestly say I hardly notice any difference in the AHI numbers when I have a couple of drinks...sometimes it is even lower!!
... but if I have more than 3, I am most definitely more tired the next day so I try to stick to 1 or 2

Just take a large glass and you can easily stick to 1 or 2 .carosan11 wrote: ... but if I have more than 3, I am most definitely more tired the next day so I try to stick to 1 or 2
If I drink, I usually have also only 2 glasses: the first one and the last one

Re: Alcohol and CPAP
Mostly lately ive ever just had one drink, like an hour or two before bedtime, and so I doubt it affected me..
But before I knew I had sleep apnea, and now i understand why,
but anytime I had say.... more then a couple drinks, I would have extreemly difficult time sleeping, and prety much just laze arround all night not sleeping.... Though now I understand why... also explains to some degree hangover headaches....
Since ive been on cpap I have yet to.. . have more then a couple drinks So I dont know what effect it would have on me. Worse case I cant breath right and stay up all night like I did before... .

Re: Alcohol and CPAP
For me, if I have more than 1 oz. just before sleep it really messes up my sleep cycles, fragments it badly.

Re: Alcohol and CPAP
Here is my strategy: I drink a 2-3 of glasses of wine most nights, but I do it early & mostly before dinner. At dinner I start hydrating and by bedtime 3 hrs later or so, I'm sober, fatigued, and ready to sleep. I don't notice that my sleep is effected, but I only look at the small screen on the S9.
I read once that if you drink alcohol within 3 hrs of bedtime, it diminishes sleep quality, but if consumption is 3 hrs or more, then not so much. If someone replies that this is not true, I will resort to herbal relaxation strategies.

Re: Alcohol and CPAP
There is no way in hell that I am giving up my red wine, CPAP or no CPAP. I drink wine every night. And since I have gotten my CPAP, I sleep like a baby and I am breathing again!!!!!
