That's the price for the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet I think...if you have centrals that are numerous enough to be troublesome it will flag them and you can then decide how to proceed.

Now remember an occasional central is no big deal. We all can have them every now and then.
It's only when they are present in large numbers or cause serious desats that they are a problem.
So if you get that machine and you see a few central flags here or there don't panic. It's normal to see a few.

Be prepared to use Sleepyhead software so that you can see all the detailed data your machine gathers.

I recommend this machine, ResMed S9 AutoSet with heated humidifier, gently used, with one-year in-house warranty, $469 + shipping to India - http://www.secondwindcpap.com/ResMed-S9-AutoSet.html

The AirSense 10 AutoSet has only minor improvement over the S9 which was the prior model.

Hey guys, I am sorry for mis type. I live in Houston, Texas. I had the study done from India last year. My deductible here is too high and it was cheaper to get it done there.
The secondwind idea is a good one though. I don't think he can buy from cpap.com due to his living in TX from what I read about international RX unless he can get a local doctor to write a RX. For some reason they can't ship within TX with an international RX...they can ship anywhere else in the US but not TX.
Obviously if someone just wanted to use cpap.com...they need a doctor, dentist, PA, NP whomever...to write another RX in this situation.
Or maybe ship it to a friend in Oklahoma and go pick it up there...there's always a way around this stuff.

Theoretically, you do need a prescription. However, I think that the poster is correct in that you won't need one in reality.

I have the Dreamstation Auto (there are several models of Dreamstation), and I'm mostly happy with it. Here's my review, the good and the bad.

Advantages:
• Automatic means that it will raise the pressure as needed when it senses distress. I think I fell more refreshed than before.
• Good statistics are generated, so you can see how you slept, and make adjustments as needed. In addition, stats are good for your doctor to see how you are doing.
• Machine is very quiet.
• Heated hose is very good, never had rainout despite full setting on humidity.
• Automatic altitude adjustment (good for travel).
• Leak compensation.
• Auto/on and auto/off can be activated and deactivated separately.
• Humidifier is fully integrated, but detachable. It can be replaced/repaired independently of the main unit. It can also be left behind to save space (if you can live without the humidification).
• Humidifier chamber is wide open on top, making it easy to fill, empty, and clean. The unit is sealed when the door over the chamber is closed.
• Puts out the prescribed pressure more precisely than my old machine (yes, I verified this).

Disadvantages:
• Machine is a bit larger than the major competing machine.
• Sometimes, there is a burning smell, especially after a potty break. I’m pretty sure it’s harmless.
• Frequently, the water does not last the whole night. I generally wake up at least once overnight, so I refill it at that time. This might not work for everybody.
• Some have complained about the brightness of the display when you turn it off and back on, such as for a potty break. I don’t find this a problem. In fact, I use the light to reattach my mask to the hose.
• The “full” line on the water tank is hard to see.
• The machine is somewhat noisier when used without the humidifier attached.
• The power cord has a proprietary signal, so you cannot use a different cord, even if the voltage, wattage, amperage, and fitting are all identical. This means that if you need a replacement cord (or a spare cord), you have to get the cord specific to Dream Stations. If you want to use a battery (such as for camping and electrical outages), you have to buy an $80 proprietary device to generate this signal.

Interesting review, thanks!

I have a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset, and in the process of replacing it for a Dreamstation.

From your comments:

* The Resmed machine seems to be noisier when the humidifier chamber is in place
* There is still rainout on the Resmed machine, even with the heated hose
* I think the Dreamstation machine would be smaller than the Resmed one, when used without its humidifier
* I guess you mean power supply as opposed to figure 8 power cord, which surely can be easily replaced?

Sometimes sleep-wake junk registers as "centrals".
If they are mostly when you are falling asleep, waking up, or in small numbers,
they are probably unimportant.

No, it's noisier without the humidifier in place. The humidifier seem to muffle the noise. I reread what I wrote and I stated it correctly.
tedtomato wrote: * There is still rainout on the Resmed machine, even with the heated hose
No, there is no rainout, whatsoever; at least not in my experience. Again, I reread my review and my language is correct.
tedtomato wrote: * I think the Dreamstation machine would be smaller than the Resmed one, when used without its humidifier
I'm not sure about that, as I don't have a Resmed CPAP.
tedtomato wrote: * I guess you mean power supply as opposed to figure 8 power cord, which surely can be easily replaced?
I mean the brick or transformer. It takes alternating current (100 to 250 volts / 50 or 60 hz) and converts it to direct current 12 volts 6.67 amps; capacity 80 watts. I think you can use a lesser wattage if you don't use the humidifier.

D.H,

My comments were related to the Resmed Airsense 10 (in comparison of your comments related to the Dreamstation), so no, they are not going to match...
