Apnea for first hour

Post by MimiVader » Mon Aug 14, 2017 7:12 am

I have been using a CPAP for 7 years without problems until about 3 months ago. I began having a slow increase in AHI levels. I got a loaner machine from my DME supplier and the numbers went back down. Now, still on the loaner machine, I am having more AHI events in the first hour after putting on my machine. Then it levels out and is great. I do not use ramp. I do not stay awake and watch TV for hours after starting the machine. And I even have this problem if I get up at 2 am to go to the bathroom. When I come back to bed and put machine back on, I go right to sleep but then show AHI for 1-2 hours after that. Any suggestions?

Without knowing exactly what you are seeing it's hard to diagnose. Please register and fill in your equipment profile. Then download Sleepyhead software and show us some data. Where exactly are you seeing this data? Are the events you are seeing A, H, or C?

What type of events is it flagging during that first hour?
And exactly when are they being flagged...right at mask on time...30 minutes later...right at the 50 minute mark??
Approx how long does it take you to actually fall asleep?

And what make/model was the old machine? --the new machine?
Providers would like us to believe they are all alike--but that is a DANGEROUS lie.
Better machines can distinguish between types of apnea--worse machines do not even detect them.
