Dreamstation GO - need help with set up

Post by Cardsfan » Mon Jul 24, 2017 2:13 pm

Just received my Dreamstation GO with battery. I have the clinician manual, and got it 99% set up. There is a setting that I don't understand. It is MASK TYPE System One Resistance Control, and it is a setting from 1 to 5. I believe this is similar to Resmed mask type, but the Resmed choice is clear as it states the mask style. All this machine states is pick a number 1 through 5, and it has to be a Phillips mask.
So, I called Phillips, no help, but to tell me to buy their mask.
I use a Resmed Swift FX Nano nasal mask. What setting should I use?

That's not the same as the ResMed mask selection.
Do you have a setting for 0 or off? That's what we normally use with the Respironics machines when using a non Respironics mask. Just turn it off.

This is NOT a critical setting and does nothing in terms of impacting leak calculations or anything like that.

Pugsy, Thank you. Yes, there is an OFF setting option. I'll just turn it off.

KBH- yes, that is the info, but it only lists Phillips brand masks. Mine is Resmed brand. Thanks.

how does the machine know how to deliver the right pressure without knowing the resistance/loss due to the mask type ?
If you bought a real XPAP, it wouldn't matter. The sensors would do their job and control the XPAP, no games required. Jim

I have long suspected that the Respironics mask numbers are a crock.

I set mask type at zero. I used it last night 7.5 hours, with an AHI of 1.0. Which is what my AHI is normally. So I think that mask type didn't make much difference in my case.

I tried all the various Resistance Settings, including OFF which is what Respironics advises for non Respironics masks, over a period of several nights and I couldn't spot any difference in anything. Not how it felt or my usual results.
If there was any difference in the pressure it was so tiny that I couldn't feel it and it sure didn't impact the data anywhere that I could spot.
