There was a bad production run of humidifier chambers (a bad welding job meant that the seam wasn't made waterproof) so yes, some of the humidifier chambers leak. All you can do is replace it with another one. Mine started leaking out of the blue a few days ago much to my surprise!

Remember, folks; no matter how frustrated you are with your cpap,
DO NOT THROW IT ACROSS THE ROOM!
It voids the warranty.

Well now that is just no fun!

This is why it's a good idea to always have a backup humidifier chamber on hand- just in case the one you're using develops a sudden leak!

My Intellipap suddenly started leaking water from the humidifier tank. So I keep it in a plastic shoebox on the little bamboo stand it lives on next to the bed and check it every morning when I'm at our place in Washington. It doesn't leak every night, just on days of the week with an "s" in them. I figure it's the joint where the stainless steel plate connects to the plastic. Similar to what y'all are saying about the likely cause of the leak in the Airsense 10 reservoir.

I ordered a new chamber for it. First one in the 6 years I've owned it. The chamber in my S9 Autoset was a much better design.

Hi,

After 3 months on my new S10 APAP, I have had leak problems from the humidifier basin.

The results have been whistling noise, with no significant water in heater tube. This points to the whistle source being in the humidifier basin. When this happens, the water leaks out of the basin onto my table top, where it wrecked the finish, and once got on the floor near electronics.

WHAT to do about this?
Several people posting to this thread, mentioned an engineering design flaw, involving a plastic to metal seal that can crack open during heating. This does sound like a bad design.

1) I use the heated tube with heated plate on for water in chamber. I have had 4 leaking basins. Once the leak begins, it never goes away, so I must go to a new basin. All are dishwasher safe. I assumed the leaks resulted from heating in the dishwasher dry cycle which goes up to 125 degrees F. Resmed rates these chambers at do not exceed 149 degrees. I started hand washing 3 days ago. No leaks yet.

2) Have people had leaks without using a dishwasher? This would fit the idea that the leak is at that joint, and can happen sooner with dishwasher, but will tend to happen anyway eventually.

3) Have people had problems with the standard tub as well? In other words, does the bad joint seem the same?

4) Might it help to lower the heat in the basin during APAP? Could washing in colder water help?

5) Does anyone have an idea of a replacement schedule that reduces leaks to a low level?

6) It was rumored that Resmed knows about the design flaw. Does any one know if they have have or have promised to do anything about it?

If anyone knows more about this issue, please post a response. I eagerly await any new ideas.

I have always used the regular water reservoir and have never had a leak. My reservoir is at least 18 months old and gets cleaned once a month. I really don't see any need for a reservoir that can be cleaned in the dishwasher. They are very easy to clean. Just make sure the silicone seal in installed after cleaning the reservoir. While I have never had a water leak with my machine, I have noticed a lot of extra noise if the reservoir is not pushed in all the way.

This my 2nd autoset 10 because my 1st one leaked inside machine then I felt it wasn't working properly . So I get my new one and new water chamber. a week into use the water chamber cracks while I'm using it causing 14 events per hr. And poor seal . I wake to dry mouth 2 hr into use to find the mess because of dry mouth . Take broken water chamber back to pharmacy , get new one . Now I'm on 2nd day with new one and 6 hrs into use today I wake up and there is a small crack in the corner . How many times is this gonna happen only supposed to be replaced every 6 months are they gonna keep replacing ? Or what the heck is causing this

Add me to the list. Have had this one about 5 months, woke up to find my nightstand covered with water.

As others have reported, the leak is where the two pieces of the tank are sonicly-welded together (below max line). This also has apparently fried the heating portion, as I now get a "Heating System Fault" when I turn it on.

This is frustrating, as I had an S8 compact for 9 years previous, with no leaks whatsoever -- if only the bearings hadn't given out, I'd still be using it.

Being without humidity in southern NM (about 10% today) really is making my nose crunchy. Yikes!

That really sucks, to use the common expression. I was going to get one, but if leaks are an issue, I think I'll wait until they fix the problem. Or maybe I'll get something else.

I have an AirCurve 10 machine with well over 2500 hours on it and hasn't leaked yet.
But then I don't mess with it much (have no idea if those that have problems might be cleaning, washing, dishwashering). I quick hand wash once a month and air dry is the most I ever do to any water chamber and sometimes it's 2 months.
Despite all the hooplah here I don't think it is something that is all that common ...of course those that it happens to will say otherwise but there are an awful lot of the AirSense and AirCurve machines out there without any leak issues.

maybe your wife just wasn't as careful as you are.

Why aren't ResMed getting involved in our leaking tank problems? This a factory problem. So come on ResMed give your customers a quality product. Let us hear from
you. My Cpap ResMed Airsence 10 was less than 6 month old when it started leaking.
