Post by 12gauge » Sun Jul 23, 2017 9:13 am

Posted before with fluctuating events per hour,in the 20's,changed my epr from 3 to 1 events per hour went down to 2.6,could that change make that big a difference or was it a coincidence,no other changes.resmed airsense 10 auto run in cpap at 8.4,with nasal air pillows, thanks

If you compared only one night either way then you can't know anything for sure, so take a few more nights and see (and plse return to this thread so we can track what's what), but anything's possible depending on conditions.

If I remember correctly I good chunk of your higher AHI was central in nature.
Some people (very small percent who use EPR or bilevel pressures (which is essentially what using EPR does) will have centrals caused by the difference in pressures. You may be one of that very small percent. You need more nights to see if this good result is going to be a trend or a fluke.

I know someone who can use a difference of 4 cm between inhale and exhale and have more centrals than we want to see but if we change it to just 3 cm difference (which she needs because her pressure needs are in the upper teens) she doesn't have any centrals other than a very random central.

So yes, it is possible that a reduction in EPR brought about the reduction in AHI if the the bulk of the higher AHI was central ...which I believe was the case for you.

Now others with higher AHI that is primarily obstructive...sometimes reducing EPR will help that also but because it has increase the overall average a bit.

Go to your profile and on the right there's a "search user's posts" feature.
Click on it and you will get a list of posts you have made most recent first.

Any chance you were awake for some of the night where the centrals are showing up?
Were there any OAs or hyponeas near the centrals?

Why give up?

Just because the numbers aren't to your satisfaction or some other reason like crappy sleep or mask discomfort?

Everything is fixable once we figure out the problem. Not always easy and not always quickly but everything is fixable.

Do you have an appointment for follow up scheduled with your medical care team? If not, get one. Your doctor needs to be aware of the centrals.

Please post a detailed graph of last night so we can get a better idea what is going on.

What is strange?

Was there a nap involved?

Did you spend much time awake using the machine?
