Air blowing from my mouth using Dreamwear
Air blowing from my mouth using Dreamwear
There's air now blowing from my lips using Dreamwear.
I use a 3" wide about 18" elastic chinstrap, but it still happens.
Does anyone know what's happening?
Air pressure issues again maybe?
I'm in the middle of moving, but it won't change cpap pressures -- or does it?
Thanks

What's happening is that air is escaping from your lips. A chinstrap will keep your jaw closed, but you can still open your lips and let air escape....try it. It's not the pressure. You need to tape your mouth shut or use a full face mask.

Thanks. I'm wrap a a sock around the top of the frame because sometimes it's too lose -- or maybe getting old (it's around 6 months old).TedVPAP wrote:Or use the Ultimate Chinstrap (lined using a clean folded sock).LSAT wrote:DeeCPAP wrote:There's air now blowing from my lips using Dreamwear.

I think I'm going to have to give up and buy a FF mask. Maybe an F20 by Resmed with the newest cushions. I LOVE the simplicity of the
Dreamwear. Before I give up though, I'm going to try the gel pillows even though I don't think that's the problem. My opinion: Once
a mouth breather, always a mouth breather. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but I can see myself turning over a banging the mask against
the pillow all night.
Thanks!

Then get a Pappillow.com pillow with cutouts for the mask.

BTW, I woke up with the medical tape on my lips so that's good news, but the
SD card was still in machine. I'm in the process of moving so everything is
in a state of disarray. I've forgiven myself ... a little.
Do people actually keep their heads in the slot cut out with the Pappillow?
What happens if you sleep on your back and then change positions?

The cutouts are for the mask, not your head . It's not like a massage table or anything, but I would look at the site again and call them to see what they say (at least until someone else here joins in - I don't have personal experience of the thing).

Yes, I know. I've seen them (briefly). Seems it'd take sleep training to remember where it is when turning over.Julie wrote:The cutouts are for the mask, not your head . I'm having the same problem with the same mask: viewtopic/t155878/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=155878
Re: Air blowing from my mouth using Dreamwear
The Ultimate Chin strap is not about comfort. It restricts mouth leaking by covering your mouth. The goal of tape is to stop mouth leaks; the Ultimate Chin strap restricts it to an acceptable level. Usually my leak rate is zero since it provides enough restriction but without it I will have excessive leaking. The clean sock is a liner so I have to clean the chin strap infrequently.DeeCPAP wrote:Thanks. Re: Air blowing from my mouth using Dreamwear
I had the best laugh of the day when I looked at the chinstrap you recommended. It looks like it'll work well! It also looks like something used on prisoners by vicious warriors Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm going to continue working with the Dreamwear, the mask and tape for a while longer and maybe then try it. OR maybe a FF. Tough choice!TedVPAP wrote:The Ultimate Chin strap is not about comfort. It restricts mouth leaking by covering your mouth. I tried tape and a FF (along with nasal and hybrid) on my search for what works best for me. Choose what works best for you. At least now you know of another option.

For approx $12 try a soft cervical collar, works great for me. No more mouth leaks or dry mouth!
