Help using PowerAdd Pilot Pro lithium Bat. with DreamStation
Help using PowerAdd Pilot Pro lithium Bat. with DreamStation
Hi,
I have been using the PowerAdd Pilot Pro 32000mAh (https://www.amazon.com/Poweradd-Pilot-P ... um+battery) to power my Philips Respironics 560 APAP very successfully for the past few years. I use the included cord with a J connector that fits into the Phillips perfectly. I can get 3 nights of power with the Phillips set to CPAP at 10 without the humidifier. I recharge either from AC or from a foldable Solar panel.
However my 560 is approaching 5 yrs now and I want to get a new one APAP before this one fails. My question is: has anyone been able to run the new Dreamstation APAP from this battery? I have read that it now takes a proprietary cord? Or is that just with their battery? I have adapters A,B,C,D,E,G,H,J,K & M. I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO BUY A NEW BATTERY!
Thanks

I don't have a good answer to your question, but I believe Philips followed Resmed's lead and used a proprietary plug, with a third connection for the new Dreamstation line. It has a resistor that I'm guessing signals the power of the supply. This means that you would need the 12V cord for about $30. The other question is whether an interaction between the battery and pump would cause a low-voltage shutdown at startup - this was a problem with some packs. (I'm guessing not.)jagzoo wrote:Hi,

As to the lifetime of Lithium packs - I think we all have experience with cell phone and computer batteries dying in 2-3 years. Since you have limited discharge cycles, you might get 4-5 years. I would guess the capacity would drop gradually, so when you only get 2 nights, its time to replace.
Although car batteries seem to die in 5 years, they are designed to do that. A good deep cycle should go 6 to 7 years, the high quality batteries can go 10 years. My golf cart batteries get cycled 100 times a year, live outdoors for the winter, and go 6 or 7 years.

Thanks CapnLoki,
Do you know if I can buy just the new 12V cord? I assume it is different than the 12V cord that I use with the System One? I can't seem to find it - just in pictures, but not sold separately.

Of course, its got a cigarette plug; does the Powerad come with a socket? you can always cut and splice ...

Ah, thanks, but:
that is the DreamStation to DC cord.
That isn't what I need, I just need the cord from the DreamStation to my battery.

That is the "Shielded DC Cord for DreamStation CPAP Machines " to connect to a battery.jagzoo wrote:Ah, thanks, but:

Check your profile it shows a Resmed Auto is that what you are looking for?

lion batteries have a shelf life of 3 years even if not used
you might get some use longer
but they wont be holding as much charge and will keep getting worse
and will run out sooner and need more recharging until they just stop working on the device
The key to Li-Ion chemistry is knowing how to care for them. I have roughly 25 Li-Ion batteries that are in the 5 - 6 year old range and they are still going strong and have about 90% of their original capacity.
If you don't know how to take care of them, they can die in 1 - 2 years of storage.

Re: Help using PowerAdd Pilot Pro lithium Bat. with DreamStation
Sorry - I don't know if that exists. As I said, its a special connector on the pump end. So you either have to have a cigarette socket that goes to the battery, or you have to fabricate a cord by cutting and splicing.jagzoo wrote:Ah, thanks, but:

Re: Help using PowerAdd Pilot Pro lithium Bat. with DreamStation
No I am looking for the Phillips DreamStation cord to connect to my present PowerAdd batteries. I don't use the ResMed on battery as it is 24v.
Is anyone who was using this configuration with the Philips System One figured what cord will work to connect to the DreamStation?

What plugs into your battery? It looks like a USB.. So buy the adapter posted above for cigarette lighter and dreamstation and then buy a USB to cigarette lighter adapter on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/ARECORD-Cigarett ... B01J67JIOQ
Also you dont need a new battery if it lasts 3 nights without recharging. You wont find a battery that works out of the box for this. You need to connect two pieces or make your own connector splicing the wire.
