Icon Auto CPAP with Heated Hose - Can you use a regular hose

Post by Tesseract » Thu Jun 29, 2017 11:12 am

I have the F&P Icon Auto machine with a heated hose. Can I just attach a regular hose for the summer and not use the heated hose?

I am pretty sure you can use a non heated hose with the Icon.

Not sure what the F & P does in terms of humidity choices without the heated hose but ResMed and Respironics will still let you adjust the humidity without the heated hose. The Icon should go to something like manual humidity selections instead of automatic if it doesn't sense a heated hose attached.

I haven't seen a manual for the F & P Icon to see if it is mentioned in the manual or not. Have you looked in the manual?
Don't have the manual...you can get it here.

I found a clinical/provider manual for the Icon. I didn't see anything about the humidifier or heated hose settings.
It might be in the User manual which my source didn't offer me.

So I don't know what happens with the heated hose not being used and my suggestion is to simply try a non heated hose and see what humidity options you end up having.

I went to my DME Provider that sold the unit to me and they said you could just detach the heated hose and attach a regular hose no problem.

You can certainly attach the hose and use the machine. If you experience rainout, then go back to the heated hose.

Thanks. Problem with the heated hose is that I have to turn the air conditioning down to 70 because it makes the bed too hot
