Help with Sleephead data?

Post by willp2 » Thu Jun 22, 2017 12:37 pm

Hello, I've been using CPAP for at least 10 years and have been doing quite well. Never sleep without it and always have a nice restful sleep. I've put on a bit of weight and recently and in the last few weeks my sleep is terrible and if feels like I am up all night a few gasping wake ups a night. Unfortunately, I am between insurance right now so a sleep study isn't in the cards at the moment.

So wondering if I might get some help interpreting what I am seeing in Sleepyhead. Things have always just worked for me, so I really don't have a good feel for what to look for. Using a REMStar 60 Series, set to auto. When I first started having issues I bumped up the minimum pressure from around 6 to 8 and other than that I've left it to what the doctor set it at when I got it.

Here's some of the Sleepyhead data exported to a CSV if that works. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjCyL1TenHC5gfpW1fGF994_vpu5pg

I'd appreciate any feedback or advice. And, yes I am working on trying to lose that extra weight. That's not any easier with the fact that I'm a zombie from lack of good sleep.

Thanks

Next time click on large thumbnail first...then copy the last line in the box of addresses and your image won't be so massive and we can click on it and enlarge it if we need to .

Do you have the event flags turned off? Nothing at all on that top graph...and usually there's something somewhere up there.
Lower left corner of the graphs where it says "Flags"....are they green/black or red/black.
They need to be green/black.
And where is the AHI bar graph stuff on the left above the statistics?

See this example....large thumbnail...then copy the bbc/code and paste...and you can click on it and enlarge it if need be.
See my Events graph...and see the AHI bar graph stuff on the left??

OK, let's see if this is any better. I honestly don't know about the AHI bar graph on the left. This is the way it's looked since I started and I can't seem to find an option to turn that on. Sorry for the noob mistakes.

I can't enlarge your last image. You did large thumbnail but I think you copied the wrong line in the box of addresses.
I think I told you BBC code line and I should have said "linked bbc" code line...the last line in the box of addresses...see image below.
Not a big deal at the moment though.
I have no idea where the AHI bar graphs went to and I don't have time at the moment to play around to see what might have turned them off by accident.
At any rate your AHI is relative low.

The only think I can see on the events graph is maybe some snores and I can't enlarge the image to see which ones but looks like VS2 which we have never figured those out. Pressure doesn't seem to increase when VS2 snores are seen but will with VS1 snores are seen.

How many hours of sleep are you averaging? And are those hours broken up with multiple wake ups so that the sleep is fragment?
This one report shows about 6 1/2 hours of sleep...that's not enough for most people to feel better even if it was good solid sleep. Is this a typical night for you? If so, maybe you just need more sleep (I know, easier said than done).
Do you take any medications? If so, what? Any change in medications?
Any other health conditions going on?

I went ahead and updated the post above with the linked bcc image.

No doubt 6 1/2 is not great of course and I usually get more. But this is different than just not enough hours in the sack. It does feel like I am up all night with breathing issues, something I haven't experienced in 10+ years since before CPAP. No medications or other changes other than the extra lbs I mentioned in the first post. Thanks

I don't see anything on this report other than maybe the short hours. The other stuff is really very minimal and I don't know that there is enough of it to cause your problems but you could try a little more minimum pressure and see if it helps or not.

Otherwise the usual stuff applies when we have a significant change in the way we feel and we can't figure out why. Can't blame it on meds or stuff like that...see a doctor and get a good through workup just to make sure something else isn't going on.
I know we tend to put all our unwanted symptoms in the sleep apnea basket but sometimes it's not sleep apnea's doing and the best sleep apnea therapy in the world isn't going to help something that is unrelated to sleep apnea.

You might also ask your doctor or DME (if you have one) if they could do an overnight recording pulse oximeter test on you or you could buy your own (depending on features $50 to $100 and see what your oxygen levels are doing during the night.

OK, thanks much for the advice. I was hoping there was something obvious there, but now I need to figure out how to get some kind of checkup.

Thanks again!
