Transcend Auto mini experiences

Post by rdavis » Wed Jun 14, 2017 11:18 am

Hello! Has anyone used the Transcend Auto Mini APAP machine? How did it perform for you?

I know it comes with a couple of battery options (one chargeable and one solar), but the web site seems to indicate that you can't use the battery if you are also using the humidifier. Is this true?

Thanks,

RHD

I had one for a little while (a week) until the motor quit.

I opted instead for the IntelliPAP Auto https://www.cpap.com/productpage/devilb ... chine.html which can be run on 12V DC or a simple AC power cord (no transformer needed).
The expandable travel bag has room for masks, hoses, and such.

I also considered the Redmed S8 Autoset II, no longer available from cpap.com but at secondwindcpap.com

Observations about the Transcend Auto:
- It had the usual pressure adjustment features and was not too hard to configure from a PC.
- The software was very old and there is no Sleepyhead support for the data.
- The motor generated a high-pitched whine that varied in pitch with EPR pressure. I found it difficult to muffle or ignore.
- Where the hose attaches requires an included, non-standard, rigid adapter that is about 6 inches long.
- The included travel case has no room for hoses or masks.
- It was very light and pretty compact, but the optional humidifier https://www.cpap.com/productpage/transc ... ifier.html completely negates those advantages, IMHO.
- The power cord has a AC transformer at the wall end.
And it is true that the humidifier draws too much current to run from a battery. But that would be true of any heated humidifier, I guess.
+ On the plus side, you can wear it on your head!: Image
