my howling machine

Periodically my Airsense 10 begins howling when I first start using it at night. If I push really hard on the water tank, it sometimes shuts up. last night I woke and heard it quietly howling until I pushed the water tank in again. Is there a permanent fix for this? I thought I saw it being discussed earlier, but I don't use this forum often because everything works so well.

I have been logging all my data with this new machine and the most frequent score I get is 100--now at 137 nights. The next most frequent score is 99, now at 107 nights. My most frequent scores for sleep interruptions are .5 and .2 times per hour. I love this machine! It has improved my life in so many ways. It took a long time to figure out which mask worked best and to get it adjusted just so. Now I am so conditioned to using it, I fall asleep within minutes of putting it on and pulling the covers over my head.

I think I have been very lucky to have adapted to using it so easily. When I first began back in 2005, it took me only three nights to get used to the mask but I was determined to succeed. I had already sent in my resignation from my teaching job because I could not learn anything new, had no problem solving abilities or creativity and was forgetting how to do my job after 40 years. It was embarrassing! Over Christmas break I noticed how depressed I was and decided to see my doctor as soon as possible. When I explained my symptoms, he told be I needed to have a sleep study done. Took 2 1/2 months to get in. The morning after the study, they explained my depression was because I could not dream and you needed to have 3 dream cycles a night. I could not learn anything new because I had no deep sleep and long term memories are only formed in deep sleep. Within a month or so, all my abilities had come back and I found all sorts of mistakes I had been making earlier in the year. I decided to stay retired, which was a good decision. My arteries were getting hammered with adrenalin due to the sleep apnea and cholesterol was being laid down on the irritated parts of the arteries. When I went in with a complaint about the pain in my right shoulder every time my heart rate went up, I was told to see a cardiologist who wanted to do an angiogram. I went in on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, for my 7:30 appointment and they told my wife and daughter about how long it would be. They came out in half the time and told them I could not leave the hospital. They wanted to do an emergency quadruple by-pass due to my clogged arteries right where they were splitting up so stents could not be used. No one had explained back then about a connection between sleep apnea and atherosclerois, but I was a classic example. Once I learned of that connection, there was no way I was not going to use my CPAP machine!

There's a problem with a seal or door. The machine needs to be repaired or replaced. Meanwhile, don't sleep without one even for one night.
