New CPAP recommendation

Post by ldyjane1 » Sat May 27, 2017 7:05 am

Hi All,

I have been using the ResMed S9 for 5 yrs now and it's time for a new one. My insurance covers a new machine every 5 yrears so I can get which ever style I choose. I have been happy with the S9 but of course there is smaller, quieter with more technology now. Soooo What does everyone recommend as the best machine on the market today. It's got to last me another 5 yrs!

I am a fan of the Resmed Airsense 10, which should feel like your old machine, too.
I just have to ask, how come you have signed in as 28 differnt users?

That should NEVER be recommended. It's not a machine. It's a line of machines. You have to be specific. There are four machines in that line.
AirSense 10 AutoSet - Best
AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her - Best
AirSense 10 CPAP - BRICK - Do not accept!
AirSense 10 Elite - Data capable, but lacks auto function. Not recommended.
Go with either one of the first two. You will have a very good machine.

Thank you, what is the difference between the AirSense 10 Autoset and the one for "HER"?

It has an additional algorithm (kinder, gentler) which they claim is designed specifically for women as they apparently respond differently to men with therapy. Otherwise and apart from the colour/design both machines are identical.
Even though I'm a man I went for the 'For Her' version as it was the same price (in the UK) and that additional algorithm selectable option may just work for me at some point, who knows.

A gender-specific algorithm
The pioneering new algorithm used in the AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her works by increasing sensitivity to flow limitation and optimizing the response to these events. By responding to each flow-limited breath, the algorithm helps provide comfortable therapy for women.

at least they've moved past the "all women and only women like pink" mentality.
