Hi all,
I use a ResMed AirSense S10 cpap (set to 15 pressure). We hope to camp at non-electrical sites this summer & most trips, I'd assume it would be no more than 3 nights. We really need a cost effective solution (~$200 or less of which $85 would probably go towards the cigarette lighter adapter alone). Can someone share how/what they are using?
I stopped by a battery shop recently/had info regarding my cpap (volts/amps...whatever all those #s are); but they were of no help in letting me know what I need. I was left pretty disappointed. One thing I was looking into was if I can skip the cigarette lighter adapter & just plug the regular power cable into on of those portable jump starter packs? OR solar? IDK...any suggestions for the cheapest way to accomplish this & what items I would need to buy? TIA
Best/economical setup for camping 3 nights with cpap

Refer to the link in my signature - it hopefully has everything you need. If you go without the humidifier, you'll use 6-7 Amp-hours a night, or about 20 AH for three nights. A 35 AH AGM battery will work. The cost including a small quality battery charger is a bit over $100, so this is within your budget. The jumpstarters have 18-20 AH batteries, so they would be very marginal.ambrok wrote:Hi all,

Wow...thanks for the info : )
I did some searching & think this is what I'd need?!? Am I missing anything?
* Battery: https://www.walmart.com/ip/12V-35Ah-U1- ... /132663828
* Case: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Snap-Top-Eve ... x/16781379
or a ‘smart’ battery box: http://www.impactbattery.com/smart-mari ... wAodzb4KOA
* DC adapter for cpap: http://www.thecpapshop.com/dc-power-con ... -10-series
Also, does it matter if you connect up to the positive or negative battery terminal first?

That's probably OK. I haven't seen the Walmart brand before but they're probably all made in the same factory. The price is right - I've seen everything from $60 to $149 for this size battery.ambrok wrote:Wow...thanks for the info : )

That's about what I use. It covers the terminal completely and adds handles. Cheap insurance.ambrok wrote:* Case: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Snap-Top-Eve ... x/16781379
Seems like overkill, especially since it leaves the terminals unprotected.ambrok wrote:or a ‘smart’ battery box: http://www.impactbattery.com/smart-mari ... wAodzb4KOA
Yes, this looks like the right one. But remember you can get it from out sponsors:ambrok wrote:* DC adapter for cpap: http://www.thecpapshop.com/dc-power-con ... -10-series

I strongly advise against using the alligator clips. You probably want a battery charger; I recommend the BatteryTender brand, which comes in three sizes, from $25 to a bit over $50 and have most of the cables needed. (I think you need a "cigarette lighter socket" for about $10.) Once setup, it becomes "foolproof" to plug in the connectors. It all should be in the link.ambrok wrote:Also, does it matter if you connect up to the positive or negative battery terminal first?
