Pulse Ox with sleep stages????

Post by JayR_1945 » Fri Apr 28, 2017 9:50 pm

Ive used a CMS-50E Pulse Oc for many years but now looking for that tracks sleep stages, like a FitBit.

Any word on the potential development of a fingertip Pulse Ox with an actigraph. Both outputs would be of interest to sleep apnea survivors.

In order to determine sleep stages an EEG is required.

I would like to see a pulse ox unit married to an EEG.

By the way, I am proud to be a LIFE survivor...

I ain't dead yet.

You need a device not available to the home market to get the sleep stages. Look at your original sleep study. Did you show clear demarcations between the different stages of sleep in your apnea episodes that later match your apap machine results in Sleepyhead? I had a sleep study and a titration and I only have apnea during REM and near REM so it's easy to find those stages on Sleepyhead. I look at other people's charts and just don't see how anybody could even guess, in many cases, where REM is occurring. So my suggestion is to spend some time analyzing your original study material against your Sleepyhead info and see if you can find the pattern. Just don't be surprised if you can't find one.

Not sure that there would be any benefit to knowing the stages on a regular basis. How does that change treatment especially if you have an apap in the first place?

Zeo gave a fair approximation. Any more, and most of us would be clueless about the data.
