Resetting the pressure on ResMed S9

Post by DeeCPAP » Tue May 16, 2017 4:27 pm

I found the instructions on Google on how to do it, but my question is this: Is there a way to mess up the settings? I don't want to follow these instructions unless it's absolutely going to work. According to my primary doc, I should increase the pressure on my machine because I complained about being very groggy during the daytime -- the setting now is 5-10.

Here are the instructions for anyone interested: Press and hold the Push Dial and Setup Menu buttons down at the same time, and hold them both down for 3 seconds. The machine will then enter the Clinician Setup Mode: Step Three: Turn the Push Dial to select which option you wish to change, then press the Push Dial down to select your change.

Thanks

If you are worried, write down your current settings before you make a change. That way, you can always go back to your old settings.

Palerider and Okie bipap, it was so dang simple I'm almost embarrassed. I set the high to 10.8 which is only slightly higher than the 10 it was set at. I also noticed one of the techs (I have no idea which one of them) turned on the RAMP which I dislike intensely, so I turned it to off.

None of the techs mentioned the EPR setting. It's now set to 3. One problem I'm still having: Sometimes the bottom of my tongue (in the back of my throat) seems clog up the airway when EXHALING because my throat is too relaxed -- then the machine recognizes the problem, and THEN fixes the air pressure so I breathe normally again. It's been jarring when I'm AWARE of it and it may happen when I'm sleeping, too. Does the EPR setting address this issue?

While typing this message, I stopped and tried using the 10.8 setting. It may have fixed the problem!!! This may be a dream come true!!!! It was a horrible problem preventing me from wearing the chinstrap because my tongue clogged and I'd pull the gear off in my sleep. I MAY get my first good night's sleep in YEARS!!

WHY WAS THE TECH SO STINGY WITH THE AIR PRESSURE?????

Thanks!

They sure weren't stingy with me when I first started. My initial pressure was 20 - 25 cm with 5 cm pressure support. I have tried several settings from 15 up to where I am now (20 cm pressure with 3 cm pressure support).

You were lucky. It's better to get too much air than enough air than not enough.

I tested it briefly while awake. With 10.6 it's too low and the lowest part of my tongue clogs my airway when exhaling. With 10.8 it doesn't clog as easily. I'll test higher increments if necessary. Thanks!
