centrals getting worse on APAP

Post by TGtired » Fri May 12, 2017 9:20 am

so i went into the sleep lab yesterday and they had no clue about what to do with my data. My AHI and centrals seems to be going up last night. They changed the pressure range and i don't know if that is what made things worse last night. Seems they have no clue about the sleepyhead software. I am on new sleep med that could change apneas, not what i want but i can't sleep until someone figures this out for me. It is obvious one of the events is what woke me up. I do have an ASV but have absolutely no clue how to set it up.

1) Much as we like SleepyHead, it is not "professional" software that is authorized by the companies that make our xPAP machines. Hence the average DME and the average sleep doc has no idea what SleepyHead is and usually has no interest in learning anything about SleepyHead.

2) What changes did the sleep lab make to your pressure settings? And what was the rationale for making those pressure changes?

3) What is the new sleep med? And what dose are you taking?

4) How many central apneas are we talking about? And when do those CAs occur?

5) Did any of your official sleep studies mention CAs? If so, which study (or studies) and how many?

i have no idea why they changed the pressure. i only had centrals on the sleep study 2 years ago with titration of cpap and bipap. I am going to see what my AHI was then and dig it up now that i understand more terminology. No other lab seemed to be able to make sense of that report and were baffled by it. I even went out of state for one consult. The last sleep study was a home one by a dentist. I did not have any centrals on that but i have no idea how good those are a detecting it. I had 6 obstructions and 45 hypopneas. I did use a dental device for a few months and it helped a little but not totally. Seems after a few months it didn't work anymore. I woke up snoring a few times even with the appliance in.

The sleep labs i know download stuff and according to them they didn't see what i showed them in sleepyhead data. So who knows. So i slept with it last night and woke up twice abruptly and then took it off. I did sleep but i woke up really tired today with it off. So obviously i need something to help with the airway issue. i am on xyrem for sleep issues. It can relax airway more. The first night though the data was not that different. I think last night the pressures threw me off big time. I have lyme disease and i am in treatment and i can't do alot because i can't sleep. Mostly now due to the sleep apnea not being figured out. I did have bad insomnia before from the lyme but now i sleep but wake up 50 million times a night so this has been a nightmare. So that is why i got put on the medication until this can get figured out or i will continue to crash from not sleeping.

Looking at the sleepyhead chart you posted yesterday, I really do not see any problem with the pressure setting. The CAs you are getting are most likely from the wake-ups and do not appear to be a problem.

thank you last nights was bonkers I will try posting last nights and maybe someone can help me with that, maybe it was the pressure that made things go crazy.

Doubtful that it is the the pressure...Your min setting is 5...the machine doesn't go lower than 4. I wouldn't be able to breathe at 5. What kind of change in pressure did the lab make?

They changed the pressure from 5-7 to 6-10 and that nights data was crazy. I can see where i woke up from the event and was in the even for 3 min which is the longest i have had. I had weird events all night.
