Thank you very much for all the info you share.Guest wrote:I have nothing to add.Guest wrote:What I would do is bring this cpap into the DME for repair. The DME should provide you a loaner while this one is out for estimate or repair. This can get you a replacement earlier than you expected if the cost of repair is too much. If this DME does not act on your behalf to your satisfaction do keep that in mind when you order your next cpap. Keeping fingers crossed they will act fairly and quickly.DeeCPAP wrote: What can I do now other than not buy a Resmed again because it's not trustworthy? Oh, and
my DME hasn't contacted me since I last emailed him about 2 months ago for a minor
issue.
Thanks.
As already mentioned you should also check craigslist (in the Health & Beauty section) for a backup used or new cpap. You should just be well versed on the model you want and the price new and know how to check the hours of use on that model. Just try to make sure it is the same model you want for your next cpap. That makes it easy not only for supplies but when operating the same make/model you won't have to go searching for instructions.

Just a little FYI: if Medicare did not pay for the old machine, they don't care how old it is, or if it is wonky.
My S9 Autoset was only 3.5 years old when I got my Airsense 10 Autoset For Her, paid by Medicare.
The S9 was getting a little noisy, and sometimes failed to display AHI, leaks, etc.
I had bought the S9 from cpap.com.

You were lucky. Both my DME and Medicare said without any uncertainty, new CPAP machine every five years. You got away with it somehow it might have been a clerical error. Today I asked Medicare if they make exceptions considering there's only four months left. so maybe I can get a new one just a little early. The answer was no. Medicare doesn't bend rules. She called a few DME's, was unsuccessful and told me to call back tomorrow.chunkyfrog wrote:Just a little FYI: if Medicare did not pay for the old machine, they don't care how old it is, or if it is wonky.

I'm waiting for ResMed to possible think of a creative solution with one of their distributors local to me. Maybe it'll turn out they do go the extra mile for the people who need their medical products. We'll see.
