Newly diagnosed

Post by dankazoo » Sun Nov 07, 2004 6:35 pm

Hello to all. I am from the Chicago area and just went through my sleep study diagnosing me with OSA. I am also diabetic, with hypertension, etc. etc. etc.

I do not have my machine yet as the insurance company is slower than the second coming. I am in sales and travel for a living so I hope whatever I wind up with doesn't weigh a ton. It is good to get some of the feedback on equipment in advance so I can avoid some of the problems others have encountered. Thanks for your help from other posts. I'm sure I'll be asking for more help along the way as I start this trip. Best regards-
Dan

Welcome dankazoo,

If you are looking for a cpap to travel with the Puritan Bennett Goodknight 420 series is IMO the only way to go.

If you are also wanting a heated humidifier check out the Oct newsletter at cpap.com to see the nice integrated humidifier for the PB420 coming out soon.

These machines are about the size of 2 or 3 VHS tapes stacked up but I think even lighter.

I found that if you are proactive about what machine you want it goes a long way. Otherwise you end up with what your DME makes the most money on. If you can I would consider buying online and filing a claim with your insurance yourself (I did).
Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!
