I seem to have developed an irritated throat/cough and cannot seem to get rid of it, does anyone have any advice?

We're not doctors and you've given zero info about anything. If you're mouth breathing, that could dry you out, but if you're having gastric reflux overnight you need to look at your diet, maybe get an endoscopy to be sure nothing's going on, raise the head end of your bed on 4-5 inch blocks (it can help), be sure you're not using more (or less) humidity than local environment calls for, and a whole lot of other things.

I live in a dry climate. I use a heated tube and the temp is set at 75 per my therapist that is hardly ever involved! Humidity is set to auto. I've had endoscopy done and have acid reflux and take very strong medicine for it and sleep with my bed elevated. The humidifier ran out of water one night several weeks ago and ever since then I've had this irritating cough.

Have you tried turning the hose heat down (or even off)? I hope you don't take Lisinopril med because it's known to make you cough.

No I have not turned it down any lower. I do not take that medicine. I do breath through my mouth but usually only when my nose is stuffed up from allergies or something.

Well, turn it down and see what happens.

Try doing nasal cleansing before bedtime or whenever you feel congested.
I also live in a dry climate (NW Wyoming) and have always used my HH with the heat turned OFF......cool, "passover" humidity.
Too much warm humid air MAY cause more nasal congestion.
