ResMed AirFit P10 Nasal Pillow Straps- Adjustment Question

Post by Chikorita » Sat Mar 11, 2017 5:17 pm

Hi Everyone,

I use the ResMed AirFit P10 Nasal Pillows but I'm having problems with the straps.
I'm onto my second set of straps because the first set 'stretched' and became too loose.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
I'd prefer not to have to keep replacing the straps.

Thanks in advance for your help

wash them in hot water, but eventually, you'll have to replace them, like all headgear.

look on the back of the package, they've started including clips to tighten the straps... but, eventually...

Ah, interesting. Thank you. I didn't think of the hot water option. I only ever wash in cold. I washed them and put them away as 'spares' when my new ones arrived. The new ones didn't arrive with clips though which is disappointing. they needed to be replaced much earlier than I would have reasonably expected which was annoying.

ETA Here is a link to the clips:

I adjusted mine by tying a loop in the straps which was a bit clumsy. The clips look much easier to use.

I've also heard of people tying knots in the straps to shorten them... I did that once in the ER when the mask I'd grabbed on the way was too loose.

Yeah, I did that too but it's not very 'accurate'
I like the Airfit much more than the Swift Fx, which I used previously. but that headgear was easier to adjust.

Have you seen the new F&P mask Brevida? Several people who liked the P10 have reviewed it here. You might check this thread. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=115083&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=Brevida
I'm happy with my P10 but might try this one or the new DreamWear nasal Pillows when it comes here.

I don't use that mask, but I have seen posts that indicate that washing in hot water will shrink the straps. Be sure you have a spare pair
before you try it.

I hand wash my straps in very hot water, and roll them up in a towel before hanging to dry.
My straps vary between 3 years and six months old, and I cannot tell which ones are the newest--they all fit.
I wash them when they start getting loose, and I cannot detect any deterioration.

It's taken a while but I finally got brave and washed the old straps in hot water.
Had to undo the very tight knots I had tied to tighten them. Ooops.
I put them in the machine on 75C. Hopefully that will do the trick.
They're drying now. Will report back after I use them.
Thanks again for all the wisdom I find here.
