A Suddenly Higher AHI

Post by lwieland11 » Thu Apr 13, 2017 4:43 am

The last few days, my AHI is way higher. Like from consistently around 5 to 25. The only difference I can see is adding Sonata before bed. I would think that would help the AHI. Thoughts on what might have caused the AHI to jump like that? Thanks.

Try stopping the Sonata and see what happens (check with the doctor first). Since that's what changed, that's the #1 suspect.

I had to look that up. I caught some flu thing from my wife, chills a few days and some mild congestion. Really not that bad, nothing like the usual stuff that will keep you up at night. My AHI however went through the roof. MyAir even emailed me and said I should see a doctor then gave a star and good job. Bit of a mixed message. I never experienced anything like that in a year of cpap. It is probably listed in the fine print.
Seeing and believing are often both wrong. FOW

LoBattery -

MyAir is rather enthusiastic, no matter what has occurred the night before. I appreciate the positive attitude and the encouraging words, especially if it's been a rough night, but I do wonder when they show "mask seal" as being perfect where they got that as the mask leaked all night long. I've fixed that now thankfully.

If you did a "mask fit test" (where you put on the mask while it runs a test), that might be different than when you're actually asleep.

Also, I still suspect Sonata, as sometimes sleep meds relax your muscles.

Thanks everyone for your input. Done with the Sonata. It is clear that it was causing the AHI to soar(to 40 night before last). Didn't take the med last night and my AHI is back down to 10. So, better but still need to get it down further. I know I need a higher pressure but having trouble tolerating at 17.
