I have 5.5.
Thought I had 5.6 but that link no longer works....so I don't know what happened.
Haven't requested the latest in quite a while...want me to check?

Any advantages over 5.1 (which is what I have)?

None that I can think of.
The reports themselves or the data shown never change because the machines themselves don't change.
Unless someone is using a old version that isn't compatible with the AirSense/AirCurve machines there's no need to upgrade.
Usually ResScan upgrades are minor bug fixes and maybe something in the DME/doctor side of things.
I haven't seen an actual data reported change since whenever the S9 was introduced with central, snoring and flow limitation data being added over the S8. I don't know if I ever new that version. I never got ResScan until I got a S9.

I did just download the 5.7 version but I haven't had a chance to install and use it yet.
Since the machines haven't changed in the data they gather....there's not going to be any real reason to upgrade versions unless someone just has to have the latest and greatest.
I don't expect the reports to change at all and that's all I care about.
I could care less about something on the DME or doctor side of things.

Though...who knows but maybe the new mini travel ResMed is teasing people with that is supposed to be full data might be compatible with this 5.7 version. I don't know....I am just supposing.

Thanks, Pugsy. I am mostly hoping for something else - a very important "update", having nothing to do with the supported machines, and which will probably never come: a well-written software. ResScan has multiple serious issues but the biggest one is that the data-processing and visualization routines are so inefficiently written that they end up taking a great amount of system resources. Accumulating under a year of data causes the UI to become sluggish, and some operations, like switching between dates, and which should be nearly instantaneous, take several seconds. The ResScan process, which is a 32-bit process, even though it seems to be written in .NET/WPF and it would be so easy to make it 64-bit without losing backwards compatibility, ends up taking over 400MB of RAM when loading the charts. I am forced to start a new patient every year or it becomes unbearable.

It's been like that since I've first had it (v. 3.12) and I'm currently using version 5.1. Always hoping they might redesign it and fix those issues.

Don't hold your breath. ResMed and Respironics aren't likely going to change the basic format of their software anytime soon.
We aren't who they designed this software for anyway. They don't care that their products are big bloated slugs. In the 9 years I have been messing with the software they haven't changed the basic format at all.

While I keep both Encore and ResScan on my computer for storage mostly...I use SleepyHead 99.9% of the time.
It just suits my needs better.

You can always try the newer version to see if it works any faster but I doubt it will make much difference.
The biggest speed difference I ever saw was with the download from the SD card and I think that improvement came about prior to version 5.1 but I can't swear to it.
In terms of anything else within ResScan it still takes its own sweet time doing anything.

Windows 10 Creators update kills Resscan 5.7 - just FYI - it's a C++ type error I believe. (Pure Virtual Function Called) Have to wait till Resmed fixes it.. Was working fine with Anniversary update.
