I've been using my original hose for nearly five years (will be in May) and it's never been washed.

I have a cat that hates my hose so she has really done battle with it. I have duct taped nearly the entire hose; just left about a foot of it free so that it wouldn't be so stiff. I was a little worried about the sweet smell that seems to come from the hose; has anybody ever noticed it if you have used duct tape? I have a new hose in my closet; it is the older style that is much stiffer but I thought it might survive my cat better. And don't tell me to get rid of the cat!!!!!

That made me laugh, for some reason.

Thank you, I was worried that I was the only one who thought that.

X-Treme tape--silicone non-adhesive tape. found at your local Harbor Freight--Surprise! it's made in Missouri--not China.

It would to get it to conform to the tube enough to seal tight. A thinner tape would probably work better.
Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

Your CPAP has automatic leak compensation. Most recent models do. The hole will not affect the pressure delivered.
However, the hose should not have a hole after just six weeks. A hose is generally not very expensive, so you probably won't want to bother asking for an exchange (except perhaps if it's a heated hose).
