Hi all, I'm new here but I'm not new to using Cpaps!
Well it is a sad day. I bought my gear on ebay because my insurance was canceled.I couldn't afford the prices at the online stores or here locally.I paid 50-60 dollars for a mask that was close to 200 dollars everywhere else. I bought my Cpap online for $250 (remstar pro+ humidifier) I use a manometer (also bought on ebay)to adjust the air flow to the doctors settings.
When I had insurance the DME that they used gave me a HC 220 to use. I complained to them and my doctor that it wasn't working right. The DME checked it and said everything was OK . I bought a manometer and tested it myself and it was off 1.5 cm too low.Them I took it into my Doctor and he checked it and it was off! So you can't allways trust the DME's that your insurance uses.

Howdy 53now,

You have some options, none of them that great.

You could post it on Yahoo and see what happens. Masks are not prescription items so you would not be doing anything illegal.

You could try to slip it past Ebay like the rum runners of old.

You could see if a website dealer would want to pick it up, but the odds on this are slim as the volume is low and it's a lot of work to arrange shipping.

You could wear out your old one and use the new one. I'm no authority, but It should still be good if you keep it in a cool, dark place.

Sorry for the bleak outlook - it's not all bad to have a backup mask though, is it?

I'm poor and HAD to use EBAY

Hi all... this is my first time to your forum. Greetings. I want to say I have used EBAY to get two face masks. One was junk, the other okay. The price at medical supply places is so high! I just don't have the money. Nor do I have medical insurance. I can't even get it. I'm diabetec, sleep apnea and high blood pressure. I'm in a pickle. I need a new machine & mask. You know of a anywhere that gives discounts for those without insurance? I appreciate any input anyone has.

Have you checked cpap.com? IMO they are the best value out there.

A number of DMEs used to list used remstar cpaps on ebay that would go for less money but you are risking that they might need to be serviced. If money is a major consideration IMO it would be best to go with a sure thing and a low price.

You might try a local DME selling reconditioned units but my guess based on what they sell them for new the reconditioned price would be more than a new one online.

A basic unit and a basic mask from an online vendor are quite resonable.

Good Luck!
Sincerely,
