looks like an IR emitter or receiver, who knows what it's for.

OK, so it's not a power supply; is there any labeling on it?

Sell it on ebaydesiderata wrote:No letters, numbers, or other symbols. It's not pictured in any of the manuals, so I'll probably end up tossing it.

The photo provided is pretty clear, for those hard of seeing it is labelled 1xM4 below the sensor. Its an IR device without a doubt.
Likely packaged with a CPAP machine by mistake, it could have been part of a hearing aid product or anything else made in China really.
If I were the OP I would put this aside and not let it distract from the setup of the machine, until it is fully up and working. And who knows it might be worth something on ebay? enough to purchase some brand new filters
perhaps.
Any old equipment can be worth so much to some people. I remember a forum member here LSAT unfortunately having to beg like a dog for an S8 card reader once Resmed stopped making them.
Good luck

It's a Infrared Receiver Extender Cable Normally used for Audio/Video electronic devices like HD DVR's and some Cable TV boxes.
It plugs into back of the device and extends the range of the IR remote control that is used to control the Entertainment device.
If you have a really huge Home Theater room in your house they help boost the remotes range.
Not sure what this one goes to but it has Nothing to do with your Apap Machine.
These are sold for around $12 or less and can be found online.
Here is a example of one i previously used on my Comcast Box.
