Suddenly getting worse?

Post by jds2001 » Tue Mar 14, 2017 7:02 pm

I started CPAP about 2 months ago, and nearly always have an AHI below 2. The last 2 nights, however, things have gotten worse for me, and this morning I had the oh-so-dreaded difficulty getting out of bed that I had before CPAP.

What could have changed? My graphs for the last 2 nights are at https://imgur.com/a/xapFE if someone wants to take a look........

In your effort to include every possible graph that SleepyHead offers in one screen shot it makes the image very difficult to evaluate because the graphs are tiny and try as I could I couldn't make them any larger.
Please stick to the basic graphs and if we want others we will ask.
Events
Flow rate
Pressure
Leak

But it looks like you had some rather ugly clustering of OAs going on...as to why I don't know but usually when we see changes like that when the pressure is working well and all of the sudden it doesn't we suspect either supine sleeping or REM stage sleep or maybe a combination of both.
Either that or maybe medication change???

Sorry, I have a 4K display and it was perfectly usable on mine

Anyhow, try https://imgur.com/a/6YdWy for something a little smaller that should capture most stuff

Thank you, that's better.

Same comment though...ugly clusters for some reason.
I got the same sort of clusters when my minimum wasn't quite able to handle my REM worse OSA pressure needs.
Despite the machine being able to go higher it didn't or couldn't get it done quickly enough to hold the airway open and prevent the airway from collapsing.

Usual suspects for unusual pressure needs showing up like this...supine sleeping or REM stage sleep. Sometimes our OSA is simply much worse when on our backs or in REM stage sleep and sometimes we just need a lot more pressure and the machine needs a better head start to get there.

Unless you started taking some sort of muscle relaxer or pain meds that could maybe explain the need for more pressure.

By the numbers, last night was great - qualitatively not so much. I woke up and sat up in bed for 30 minutes, which is something that I used to do before starting CPAP. Hopefully this is just a horrible adjustment to the abomination known as DST, but who knows? I guess I just have to wait and see...

No medication changes or anything like that.

Anyhow, last night is https://imgur.com/a/ea630

Well on paper you look good but on paper doesn't always translate into real life how we sleep or feel for that matter.
It's pretty easy to get to looking good on paper but not so easy to feel the good numbers.

Did you wake often during the night for some reason or other besides the one known wake up?

Did you ever get a copy of your sleep study?

Apologies for the lack of response, I actually felt much better this morning, and had an AHI of around 0.9 according to Sleepyhead. The thing that I wanted to respond to was whether or not I got a copy of my sleep study - and as it happens, I did at the followup that I just had. It's at https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/20d ... b1d77d7901 if you wanna take a look - I redacted some of the identifying info, but that's it. Sorry for the scan, but they gave it to me in hardcopy (and it looks like I spilled coffee or something on it!)

That's the titration study, which didn't go well. The initial home study is at https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/d98 ... 3a59eef4fd
