Resmed ASVauto

Post by Bob Engelhardt » Thu Mar 09, 2017 10:15 am

I have have the Resmed 10 Aircurve. My DME had it set for ASV mode (doctor's orders?), but I recently changed that to ASVauto. Which solved a HUGE problem that I was having with leaks.

It seems to me that ASVauto is like ASV, but better. If that were strictly true, ASV would not even be available & everyone would just use ASVauto. So, there must be situations where ASV is better than ASVauto, but I don't see it. Put another way: what did I lose by going to ASVauto from ASV?

Thanks,
Bob

You lost nothing and gained the ability to set a minimum and maximum EPAP.
The only difference is the setting choices for minimum and maximum EPAP.
ASV mode only offers a minimum EPAP
Auto ASV mode offers a minimum and maximum EPAP
Otherwise the setting choices and how the machine goes about doing its job is unchanged.

I have never been able to find any documentation explaining why ASV mode is maybe preferable to Auto ASV mode or the other way around. I am sure there is some sort of logic behind it but I never could find it.
I your situation maybe limiting max EPAP resulted in less chance of higher EPAP which could maybe cause an increase in leaks. I dunno...that's just a guess.

asv=cpap, asvauto=apap.

some people just tell themselves they like the older tech better.

Thank you. I'm not about to go back to ASV & the leaks, but I have been a bit concerned that I've missed something. I'll let it go now.
