AirSense S10 Sliding on Nightstand

Post by southerndoc » Thu Feb 02, 2017 1:17 am

My S10 has been sliding around my nightstand. A few times I've awakened to the crash of the S10 hitting the floor. I never had this happen with my S9 Elite. Perhaps the S10 is lighter or does it have less sticky rubber feet?

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, did you find a way to make it more stable?

I do not have that model, but I have a couple suggestions. I have a nightstand with a drawer, and the machine sits in the drawer. It would have to be lifted up and out to actually fall anywhere. Another option would be the liner that you put under a carpet to keep it from sliding around. It is cheap, and you can cut it to whatever size you need.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Hose management can be helpful. There's all kinds of ways to manage the hose so that any tug is resisted before it can hit the machine end of the hose. Until you figure out a more permanent solution, you can just rig something. Example: Determine a strategic point along the hose that works for your setup and wrap a sock or any soft fabric around the hose then clip the fabric to the sheet or pillowcase with any kind of clip - hair clip, paper clip, bull dog clip - you get the idea. Just get creative. There are hose management aids one can purchase if needed. If you're a really wild sleeper you may have to put extra effort into protecting things, like velcro straps etc. Let us know what you find that works for you.

If you get a hose hanger, it will insulate the machine from being tugged by you movements during the night.

These are available through our sponsor.

Or, you can get some perforated rubber shelf liners and place the machine on that to increase the friction and resist movement.

These are available at Amazon or Bed, Bath and Beyond among other places.

I use a thin bungie cord to keep my unit on the table. I got the idea when I saw a photo of the bedside cpap table. Doesn't take a lot of pressure to hold it on. Works great for my design of night table. The rubber mat already mentioned works very well, but my cats kept clawing, chewing and pulling on it so it was a no go for me. If you can't find thin bungy cord, just regular, stretchy sewing elastic will also work - just need figure out how you want to connect the ends.

Got any old, thick mouse pads stashed away?
They will also cut down on machine noises, too.
If not, those rolls of draw liner will work just fine. Also available at Walmart.

My machine sits on an old mouse pad inside a CPAP nightstand. The machine is nice and quiet and never moves.

Never thought about a drawer liner. Will try that. Thanks!
