after 7 months of sleeping with machine.. is it normal to..

Post by moreorless » Sat Feb 25, 2017 6:29 pm

after 7 months with sleeping with the machine is it normal to have 2000 hours?

also on a side note do you let your animal sleep with you on your bed when you are using your sleep machine at night? at first i didnt.
but they come on and sleep with me, and they are care full to avoid sitting on my mask and the tubing, when i leave the room to use bathroom or leave the mask on the bed with tubing.
at first i fell funny about them sleeping on my bed, but its good they sleep with me.

oh and one more crazy thing happen, the tubing fell of of my mask, but i woke up quickly and put it back on.
like couple days before that i had problems with my head gear. fixed that issue but i am putting a new head gear on tommorrow. hmm
...........................
cheers

My shih tzu sleeps with us every night. Our two granddogs, another shih tzu and a Brussels Griffon, sleep with us when they visit when their "moms" are out. There has never been a problem. Go on with your normal life.

Sure.
Tallying up the last 7 months comes up to 215 nights. Divide 2000 by 215 = about 9 1/2 hours per night.

Regarding animals......we have a couple of rabbits and several deer that inhabit or frequent our property, so "NO", we don't let them come in the house or sleep with us. Our last dog had to be euthanized shortly before I started therapy, so haven't had that experience with house animals.

Everything about this therapy is a learning curve.

I have 6 cats. If they want to sleep on the bed, they can and do. Sometimes I wake up and find one at my feet and one at my side. Sometimess, there is one between me and my husband.

Some "experts" claim it is bad to have animals in the bedroom.
I presume none of them have pets.

When it comes to sleeping with a machine, there is no abnormal. What ever works for you is your normal. My normal may not be the same as yours, but to me it's normal. My normal is about to change as I expect my wife to get her machine any day now.

I did the same calculation as Wulfman, and got the same results. If you actually sleep 9.5 hours per night, then it is correct.

If not, I suspect that the machine was not delivered with the "odometer" set to zero. Check next week (after exactly seven nights) by dividing the difference by seven. If that number is more reasonable, then that's the issue.

Another possibility is do you really mean seven months, not 7½ or so? In that case, were talking 8.8 hours or so per night (actually a little less because some months have 31 days).

If you can figure the exact day you stated, you should be able to derive am more precise nightly average.

Only one cat sleeps with me at night and she stays away from the mask and tubing at night. She likes to sleep on the tubing in the morning while she waits for me to awaken. Hasn't caused any problem though. The thing is, if your pets aren't DISTURBING your sleep, there is nothing wrong with them being there. I'm more likely to disturb the cat since I have RLS and a mask that blows on her (and she hates both those things).

If you have trouble with your tubing falling off your mask, I think plumbers tape will help. You wrap it around the end of your mask and then put the hose on - should hold it on better. Works with the plumbing here anyway.

Why are you taking it off to go to the restroom? I disconnect the hose from the machine, wrap it around my neck and leave the mask on.

Taking the mask off, and then having to put it on again is a waste and tends to make you more awake.
